Clinical staff have a way of dissociating to cope with trauma methodically. It was a skill Danica had herself learned since becoming a nurse, and she'd become adept at using it. It protected her. It shielded her from emotional pain caused by things she could never understand. But as she sat in A&E, reeling from Sienna's crash, she couldn't do it.
