Basking in the sweet aroma of cupcakes baking in the oven reminded Danica of her childhood. It had always been just her and her mum, and it became part of their routine to bake on a Sunday morning. Although the day often changed because of her shifts, she and Julie made a point of still having these girls' days as she grew older, even if only once a month. As a young child Danica used to sit on the kitchen side, licking the spoon clean as her mother whistled a tune and did the dishes. Now they worked in perfect synchrony through every step.
