Ruby Bancroft shrugged at the three pairs of eyes that were looking at her incredulously, waiting for some sort of explanation. “I saw her go into the woods and then heard her scream but when I got there her body was already disintegrating and shimmering out of existence.” She shifted her leg and her face contoured with pain. “Next thing I know, the zombies are on me and I’m the one screaming.”
Arthur ran a finger through his shaggy hair. “What are we gonna do about your leg?” He blew out a breath from his puffed cheeks. “I hope this damned game doesn’t include the playable characters becoming infected and turning into zombies.”
