Chapter 7

Raziela The scent of bleach and blood filled the air. I woke on a cold floor, my hands shackled, a collar locked tight around my throat. I blinked twice, forcing my eyes to get used to the darkness that surrounded me. Around me, other girls sat slumped in rows—most barely older than teens. All collared and that was when I felt the collar that was currently wrapped around my neck, stopping me from shifting and making me weak. Some of the girls were crying. Some were dead-eyed. Some stared at the locked door, and that was when I finally realized that we were moving. Which meant that we were at the back of some truck. “Where are we?” I whispered and a loud sob followed my question. “Omega Auction House. Northern territory. Underground.” Another girl answered with a flat voice. “People buy us?” “No. They buy what we can breed.” Silence followed, but I felt a part of me die. Did they take Enid to sell her too? A sob broke out from my lips, and I let it go. I just wanted to have a normal life with my baby. Pain flared at my sides, but I couldn't bring myself to scream anymore. My throat was sore and if the crack that had filled my ears meant anything, it was a sign that I might have broken another rib. Why? Why was this happening to me? Why wasn't life fair to Enid and I? The truck slowed to a stop after a long time. The back door swung open in an instant, and I blinked back at the amount of light that streamed in all at once. Footsteps reached my ears, alongside the call of orders being thrown around. Rough hands grabbed me, before shoving me out. I barely had the chance to sneak a peek, when a blindfold covered my eyes again. A small groan slid past my lips, but it transformed into a cry pretty quickly as the grip on my hand tightened, before I was shoved forward. I stumbled, but whoever it was didn't let go, not until I was pushed into a room. The scarlet walls and velvet curtains caught my attention first, and it was quickly followed by the rack of lingeries in the corner. The room looked nothing short of the inside of a brothel. “You'll wear this tonight.” Someone rasped from the corner, and that's when I saw him. A short, balding man who looked like he was in his sixties. He held up a black garment bag for me, and I took a step back. “Get away from me.” I took a step back, and he chuckled. “You should smile.” He pulled out a red see through dress, and dangled it in my face. “Our patrons love a soft, graceful omega.” “I want to see my daughter.” My stomach churned at her words. “Please, where's my ..” “You'll both be on display together.” The man sneered. “Dont worry, mommy. The audience loves a matched pair.” “No, no.” I shook my head furiously, as he reached for me. I backed up a couple more steps, but all he did was come closer. “Dont touch me…” The rest of my cries were interrupted by a loud sound. He ripped my shirt from my front in one quick sweep, exposing me to the freezing air. I gasped out loud, wrapping my arms around myself immediately. “Oh!” The man muttered with a disgusting grin. Like that wasn't degrading enough, his fingers slid up my chest, fondling my breasts. His fingers pressed hard, and I flinched. “Very beautiful. Perky, even after breastfeeding. That’s impressive.” He chuckled, licking his lips. “Somebody in the upper cabinet will be very pleased. I can just feel it.” I quickly squeezed into the revealing dress, wanting nothing more than to get away from the man’s fingers on my naked body. Once I was done dressing, he pushed me out of the room, leading me down a hallway. The scent of sweat mixed with a million varieties of scents and perfumes hung in the air, and I fought the urge to puke. Bodies moved past me, and I stumbled a number of times, just so I wouldn't bump into anyone. I was just about to give up hope when my eyes landed on a small human hurdled in the corner. Enid. She sat on a stool, and the first thing I noticed were her eyes. They were red rimmed and wide, and I just knew she had spent the whole time away crying. She sniffled from time to time, whilst clutching onto a small stuffed animal that wasn't hers. Without thinking, I tore from the man's grip and dashed towards her. “Oh baby,” I sighed, crashing down to my knees in front of her. I wrapped my arms around her in a tight hug, before pressing kisses to her forehead. “I’m here. Mummy's here.” “You're safe now.” Enid shook in my grip, and I held onto her even tighter. It felt like if I let go of her even for a single second, she would disappear. “Mummy's here now. You're with me and….” The rest of my words hooked in my throat as fingers dug into the back of my neck. A jolt of pain shot up my neck and I whimpered from the effect. “I'd be careful if I were you.” The bald man yanked me up in his direction like I weighed nothing. As he whispered in my ear, I didn't miss the disgust that coated his voice. “Keep acting up, and I'll toss you to the beast we keep in cages.” he growled in my ear. His voice was cool, but it did nothing to mask the seriousness in his tone. This wasn't just a threat. He meant it. “And you do know what a pack of unclaimed wolves do to omegas?” I gulped. I knew the answer, but I didn't dare speak out. “They’ll take turns on you.” His voice dropped lower. “and once they're done with you, they'll rip you into pieces. What do you think will happen to your precious little daughter then?” My breath hitched in my throat, and my eyes burned with unshed tears. I wasn't sure how much I could take before the tears would start pooling, but I knew I had to suck it up. Not just for my sake, but for Enid too. “There are very special people here tonight.” He sneered. “You better behave, and put on a nice show, Omega. You just might get lucky.” My heart pounded loudly, but not as loud as the slap he cracked against my backside. I held Enid close, whispering soothing nonsense into her ears. I didn't believe half of what I told her, but I had to, for the both of us. My hands wouldn't stop shaking , and I took Enid’s hands in mine just to calm myself. Enid and I waited behind huge curtains. I could hear the sycophantic voice of the host as he spoke, but I could barely register his words, my mind far away. My mind raced with what they were going to do to us. Please Goddess. I muttered underneath my breath. Help us. The prayer had barely slid past my lips, before someone cut through my thoughts. A deep voice echoed through the speakers above, and I shuddered. “And we’ve saved the best for last. Tonight, we have a rare treat.” Fear with a mix of disgust coiled itself in my belly, but I held my own. “The most beautiful omega and her pup. Once you set eyes on them, there’ll be no going back. The perfect duo, for the perfect end of the night. The heavy curtains lifted and the lights hit me like a slap. I stepped out slowly, my bare feet silent on the carpet beneath. I cradled Enid in my arms , shielding her as best as I could. A small part of me knew it was useless, but I could at least try. “Mummy.” Enid whispered against my skin, as she buried her face into my neck. “ I'm scared.” “It's alright, baby.” I cooed in her face. “Mummy's with you. You're safe.” We were in a large room and all around us were males who either had slaves kneeling beside them, or were sampling the set of girls that were at the other end of the room. I couldn’t meet any of their eyes, but I could feel the heat of their eyes as it burned through Enid and I. They were predators. All of them. They watched me with hungry eyes, and my eyes continued to scan the room, until my gaze drifted up. A curtained balcony sat above the rest of the seats. It was tucked in at the back, but I just knew whoever was in there had a good view of the stage. Half of the velvet curtains were draped back , but through the parting , I saw a man sitting in the shadows. He was dressed in a black suit, unmoving, with his legs crossed out in front of him. Was he the special guest the bald man had spoken about? I didn't have an answer, but it didn't stop my stomach from churning. “Bidding begins at a hundred thousand.” the host announced. “And the best part, you get both mother and pup. A two for one package.” The room erupted in cheers and excitement. Hands shot up and voices barked over one another. “A hundred and five thousand!” Someone yelled from the back. “One thirty!” “No.” Another gruff voice called out. “She's definitely worth more than that. Two hundred thousand.” “Two fifty!” “Four hundred thousand!” My blood ran cold as I sought out the man who had bid the highest. He was a disgusting old man with yellowing teeth and I almost puked from looking at him. “I'll take them both for four hundred thousand!” “Four hundred thousand going once.” The host laughed. “ going twice…” “One million dollars.” The voice cut through the room like a blade. It sounded like velvet and even though he wasn't loud, the voice boomed all around. The room fell into graveyard silence in an instant. Every head turned towards the man in the cabinet, but he didn't move. He was too cold, and commanding, and it sent shivers down my spine. “O-one million.” The host stammered. “From the high box, going once, going twice…” My heart dropped to my feet, and I felt the air shift. Oh goddess no. “Sold” the host called and as his gavel hit the wood sealing my fate, I felt the blood drain from my face.
