“It’s really a pity that you have to go now,” our manager said once I handed in an immediate resignation. “Your colleagues have been telling me that you’re a hardworking one.”
I shyly smiled and lowered my head a bit.
“Anyway, your resignation is effective immediately,” she continued, then stood up and offered her hand to me. “I’m wishing you the best of luck on your new journey.”
I heaved a sigh, followed right after her, and shook her hand with a smile. Once everything was settled, I went out of her office and was surprised to see Mark waiting right outside.
My lips parted as our eyes met. When I came in earlier, I could sense that Mark was trying to approach me, but I just walked past him and went straight to the office to fulfill my agenda for the day.
