Esmes pov
Last night was crazy. I had never been in a situation like that before. I think I want to be with Sam, and after last night, I know he wants to be with me, too. God, I can't believe what my life has turned into. I do feel bad about what happened with Josh, though. I should talk to him and explain things. Maybe he'll be calm this time. I'm so glad it's the weekend; the past few days have worn me out. I have to get ready for my job interview today, though.
Esme gets dressed in jeans and a pink T-shirt. She’s almost done doing her hair when she hears a knock at the door.
“Come in!” Esme shouts
“Hey… can we talk?” Maylee says
“Look, I don’t have time right now; I have a job interview in an hour,” Esme says as she walks past Maylee and out her bedroom door.
“Let me go with you!” Maylee shouts as she runs after Esme. “I can explain, Esme. Please stop and listen to me. You deserve to know,” Maylee says with a broken voice
“Maylee, I don't have time for this, and honestly, I don't want to talk to you today. You were so rude to me yesterday,” Esme says as she descends the stairs and heads for the front door.
Maylee's pov
Damnit, I need to tell her about Don and my mom. She can help me figure out what to do, and I feel bad for being mean to her, but I was going through a lot yesterday, and I don't know. I just wanted to tell her I was sorry.
Esme's pov
I can't believe she thought I'd sit there and listen to her. She is my best friend and one of the most influential people in my life, but the things she said to me and how she said them without feeling behind them almost makes me think she meant it. I'll talk to her when I get home tonight, but if she meant what she said, I don't know if I can be her friend like I was before.
Esme finally arrives at her job interview; she walks in and tells the front desk attendant what she is there for. The attendant calls the person doing her interview, and shortly after, a man walks up to her and asks
“Are you here for the interview?” the interviewer asks
“Yes, I am,” Esme says as she looks up to face Josh
“Josh!” Esme says, “I didn't know you worked here,”
“Yep, let's go,” Josh says slyly
“Josh, I think we should talk about what happened last night,” Esme says
“First off, there's nothing to talk about. Second, we are in a work environment. We shouldn't be talking about our personal lives, and third, I have nothing more to say to you Esme so let's get this interview over with so we don't ever have to talk again,” Josh says blatantly
“Josh, I'm sorry. I know I hurt you, and I hate knowing that I did that to you. You have been one of my best friends since moving here. I can't lose you, Josh,” Esme says
“Esme, just stop. I don't want this anymore. I've moved on. If you can't focus on the interview, then we can end it here,” Josh says sternly.
“Josh.. Please..,’ Esme says slowly
“Alright if that's how you want things to be I am afraid I have to cancel our interview for today, you can reschedule with someone else at the front desk on the way out, and better yet ask for a different department. I don't even want to see your face,” Josh says harshly
Esme starts to tear up she turns and walks right out of the building and heads for home.
Esmes pov
I get why he's mad I do but why is he being so harsh? Josh was one of the best friends I had I can't lose him. I need to talk to Sam...
Esme changes paths and heads to Sam's house. Once arriving there she knocks on the front door and Laureth sakes mom answers
“Oh Esme what a surprise, had I known you were coming by I would have whipped something up for us to eat,” Laureth says sweetly
“Oh it's no problem I won't be long I just need to talk to Sam,” Esme says
“Okay sweetheart, come on in he's in his room,” Laureth says as she steps to the side to let Esme pass
“Thank you,” Esme says
Esme heads upstairs to Sam's room as she gets close she can hear a girl talking
Esme's pov
Who's he talking to? His mom didn't say he had a guest.
Esme listens in on Sam and the girls' conversation
“I missed you, Sam,” the girl says
“I miss you too baby girl,” Sam responds with
“When are you gonna stop messing with Esme, I want you back in my bed,” she says
“I told you don't rush me, I'm just now getting a feel of her, you know she's not as bad as you said she'd be. She's nice and not bad in bed either,” Sam says
“Wait you were serious when you said you slept with her? I thought you were just saying that to embarrass her!” the girl says frustratedly
“Well no I mean we did stuff but I didn't f**k her so calm down,” Sam says
Esme's pov
What the actual f**k I've got to see who this is. Why the f**k is Sam talking about me like that he said he loved me I guess he was lying.
Esme steps into the room with Sam and the mystery girl only to find Olive kissing Sam.
“Wow, so everything you said was bullshit, I should have known. You are a piece of actual s**t Sam Graudy, f**k you,” Esme says angered she then turns and walks out as she's walking down the stairs Sam runs after her
“Esme wait I can explain,” Sam says
“Explain? Explain what Sam How last night you said you were so deeply in love with me that you couldn't breathe but today you are f*****g around with Olive, was I just a game to you?” Esme exclaimed loudly
“No Esme I do love you..,” Sam says when Esme cuts him off
“No Sam you don't love me from now on just leave me alone got it?” Esme says as she walks out of Sam's house to return to her own
Esme cries the whole way home as she approaches her house she sees Josh on his front porch. Josh notices she's crying and rushes over to her
“Esme, what happened? Are you okay?? Why are you crying?” Josh asks with worry in his voice
“Sam.. I was just a game to him... I went to his house and Olive was there and they were talking about how he was using me... I'm so sorry Josh.. I'm sorry I didn't believe you when you told me to stay away from him.” Esme says as she hugs Josh
“Come on Esme let's go inside its getting cold,” Josh says, he picks Esme up and she wraps her legs around him. Josh carries Esme inside and sits her down on his kitchen counter
“Esme, do you want anything to eat?” Josh asks
Esme stares deep into Josh’s eyes
