Cole POV
As I settled into my leather chair in the office, my mind drifted back to what happened five years ago, stirring a whirlwind of emotions. Bella's eyes haunted me,pleading, tear-filled eyes begging me to believe in her innocence. She swore she wasn’t cheating, yet something about the situation felt off. Deep down, I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that there was more to the story than what I had been told.
Leaning back in my chair, I closed my eyes and focused, reaching out through the mind-link to my beta, Robert. “I need you to come to my office. There’s something we need to discuss.”
Robert arrived quickly, as he always did. Without wasting time, I gave him his orders. “I want you to find and capture Bella,” I commanded, my voice cold and firm. “Bring her back and put her in the dungeon. It’s time we got answers.”
Robert frowned, hesitation evident in his eyes. “Alpha, are you sure about this? Shouldn’t we—”
“Do as I say, Robert,” I cut him off, my tone leaving no room for argument.
Reluctantly, he nodded and left to assemble a team. Moments later, five warriors were dispatched to search for Bella.
Hours passed, dragging on like an eternity. The moon hung high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the pack lands as I waited for news.
Finally, two guards approached me. Their grim expressions immediately set my nerves on edge.
“We found her, Alpha,” one of them said quietly.
Relief surged through me for a fleeting moment—until he continued.
“But… she’s gone.”
The words struck me like a physical blow. My breath hitched as I stared at them, struggling to process what they meant. “What do you mean, she’s gone?” I demanded, my voice sharp with urgency.
The guard hesitated, his voice barely above a whisper. “She… she jumped from the cliff into the sea. By the time we reached her, it was too late. The currents swept her away. We couldn’t recover her body.”
A wave of disbelief crashed over me, stealing the air from my lungs. I staggered back, bracing myself against the wall as the weight of his words settled in. Bella… gone?
My mind raced with a thousand questions and regrets. Why had she felt the need to take such drastic measures? Was this her way of proving her innocence—or was it an admission of guilt?
The days that followed were a blur of grief and confusion, but life in the pack didn’t stop for anyone, not even the Alpha. Two months after Bella’s disappearance, I married Georgina, fulfilling my duty to the pack. She bore me a son, David, a few months later.
But even now, as I sit in my office years later, the memories of that night still haunt me. My thoughts were interrupted by the sharp sound of heels echoing down the hallway. I turned to see Georgina, my wife, walking toward me.
Georgina—the she-wolf I married and the mother of my son. Yet as the years passed, I couldn’t help but compare her to Bella. And truth be told, Bella was far better. Bella was dedicated to the pack, throwing herself into her duties as Luna, always taking care of the members. Georgina, on the other hand, seemed more focused on competing with other Lunas over clothes. Lately, she made it her mission to wear the most expensive attire at every event.
Cole shook his head in frustration. Just then, his Beta, Roberts, entered the room.
“Alpha, we need to leave now,” Roberts said.
Cole stood up, adjusting his stance. “Let’s go,” he replied, his voice steady and commanding.
