Rick’s familiar scent wrapped around me, helped calm my racing heart. I inched closer, my voice barely a whisper. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have work to do?” His jaw tightened, eyes burning with something fierce. “Nothing more important than you,” he replied firmly.
