Journey to the Redwood Pack
“We’re traveling to the Redwood Pack for a few days to investigate some leads,” Rick said, trying to sound casual.
“Seriously?! But what about your work…” I could hear the concern in my voice, but Rick was already prepared with an answer.
“Beta Mark can handle it,” he reassured me. “He’ll tell everyone that we’re on a short vacation - without the kids. We’ll only be taking Gamma Teddy with us.”
It didn’t take long for the staff to finish packing our bags. As I watched them move efficiently through the halls, my thoughts drifted to our children. I needed to say goodbye before we left.
In the playroom, Edsel and Gian were sitting on the floor, engrossed in their puzzles. When I entered, they looked up, their sharp young eyes immediately scanning my face.
