The first book is the Collected Fictions of Jorge Luis Borges, published by Penguin Press in 1999 and translated by Andrew Hurley. The building is the Argentine National Library in Buenos Aires. The second book is impossible and should not exist. After a life of regular and dreary work, I deserved to see a little of the world. This was my justification for buying an airline ticket to South America.
