Chapter 4: Secrets! (Part 1)

Sora’s P.O.V

My body felt heavy, as I felt like I was surrounded by darkness. I was so tired, I just wanted to sleep, but it felt like there was something I needed to do. Something that kept bothering me. “Sora Shouko huh? You have an interesting last name. A name that’s only given to a select few, just who are you.” Said a voice in my head, at first I didn’t recognize it, then in a split second, It sounded familiar. It was Higetsu’s voice, I tried to open my eyes, but they wouldn’t open. Images of a forest flashed in my mind, with the pentagram on my neck flashing. “A forest? I see that’s where the truth is, very interesting, now just who are you truly?” Higetsu’s voice said again, as it felt like something was going through my mind, till it felt like something hit me. “What?” He said, with the same feeling of him hitting something in my mind, my hands moved on their own, making fists and having my nails dig into my skin. “A block, are you blocking this portion of your mind from me?!” Higetsu yelled as he hit it again with even more power, causing my nails to go even deeper in my hand, with blood slowly dripping from my hand. “I see, you are not blocking me from seeing this portion of your mind, you didn’t even block it, it’s blocked even from you, meaning someone put this in your mind.” Higetsu eventually stopped hitting whatever he was trying to force his way through, as I felt my nails leave my skin. Just then I heard a voice in my head, not Higetsu’s someone else’s. “Sora… Please don’t leave me alone…” It was Mia’s voice, her voice was soft, it sounded like she was crying. I wanted to move, to hug her, tell her it's all ok, but my body wouldn’t move. “Mia… I’m ok… I’m right here…” 

I then saw a bright light, as it slowly blew away the darkness around me. “I can’t believe I’m helping you when you have made a contract with his kind.” The voice sighed softly. “Well, this will be the only time, because of how much you risked to save her. Keep her safe, and maybe we shall meet in the future, Sora Shouko, of the legendary Shouko family.” When the voice quit talking the light got brighter and brighter, till eventually, my eyes opened to see a light above me. I slowly moved my hand above my eyes, to block the light. “Ugh… what happened…” I slowly sat up, to notice that my clothing was that of a hospital. I heard someone walk towards me. “Well now, look who’s awake.” I looked towards the person talking to me, to see a nurse smiling. “Who are you?” I asked in a soft voice like I haven’t talked in days. “My name is Liz.” She said smiling a bit while looking at some paperwork. “You've been sleeping for quite some time.” I was confused a bit when she said that. “U-Um miss Liz where am I?” She looked at me. “Oh yeah, I forgot you weren’t awake when you put in our care.” I tilted my head slightly, confused. “You’re in the hospital right now, you’ve been here for about three to four days now. You were in a coma-like state.” I looked down slightly. “Three or four days… I was asleep for that long?..” Liz sat down in her chair. “You barely lived, you lost so much blood. I’d say that’s why you were asleep for that long, risking your life to save one girl huh?” I jumped when she said that. “H-How did you know about that?” She looked back down at her paperwork. “The girl that came with you when you were admitted here, Mia was her name I think. She told me what happened to you, how you risked your life to keep her safe. I’m impressed that you went that far to keep her safe, to put yourself in this state for her.” I looked at her slightly, with her just looking through paperwork. “Is Mia ok?” I asked softly me noticing Liz smiling. “Yes, she’s ok. She has visited you a few times, while you were in your coma state. She would talk for hours, about her day, what she learned in class, what she did, and right before she leaves, she would cry, and say sorry to you.” I flinched slightly, looking at a mirror in front of me. “Why would she say sorry…?” Liz stood up and walked to the bed I was on, sitting down on it. “Because she blamed herself for you ending up in here, she thinks you did this for her, and you harmed yourself to save her, only to nearly die. It tore her apart.” I looked down, as I felt my eyes swell up, with tears forming. “I caused her this much pain…”

“Look, you both are blaming yourself, she’ll be here for another visit in a few minutes. She doesn’t know you are awake.” I looked at Liz to see her smile at me. I nodded slowly, smiling back as best as I can. “So, I know I’m changing the subject, but do you have a girlfriend?” I felt my face flush with my cheeks turning red. I shook my head quickly, while I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. “So let me get this straight, a seventeen boy who’s almost eighteen, doesn’t have a girlfriend?” I nodded a bit while blushing a bit. “U-Um why are you asking me these questions?” She just smiled a bit. “Is it wrong to ask the one who was put under my care, these kinds of questions? And” She slowly leaned in closer to me, causing my face to flush a bit more. “After everything I heard and read about you, you seem like my type, both in personality, and looks.” She pressed herself against me a bit, l*****g my neck. My body shivered a bit, as I put my hands on her shoulders, pushing her away. “H-Hey w-we just met and I think you are a great woman and all, but like I said we just met and I” Before I could finish my sentence, I felt her lips against mine. “H-Hmm?!” I tried to push her away, but I couldn’t muster the strength as she leaned on me, kissing me and pressing her chest against me. Eventually, I fell back, with her falling on top of me, still pressing her lips on mine, I tried my best to push her back, but the longer we kissed, the more my body was gradually getting used to it. Her phone rang on her desk, with her parting her lips from mine. I was panting looking up at her, as she got off of me. “Well that ruined the mood, and I was just getting into the kiss with you.” I heard Liz sigh after saying that, standing up and walking to her phone, picking it up. “Hello? Oh, she’s here? She’s early, well have her come up, I’ll go ahead and leave.” She hung up the phone and turned to face me. “Well looks like the girl who came with you here is coming up to visit you. I can’t be in here while she talks to you, due to her mom’s request so I’ll see you later.” She looked at me smiling, as I noticed she winked at me, before leaving. I was laying in the bed, the same position as I was when she kissed me, thinking. “She kissed me… She took my first kiss.” I sat up, with the door opening to a girl with deep blue hair, and golden eyes walking in. It was Mia, with her looking at me like it’s been years since she saw me.

We just looked at each other, for what felt like forever. I didn’t know what to say, I was in a coma state for three to four days while she suffered. I opened my mouth to say something, but I was forced down on my bed again. It took me a second to realize Mia had tackled me and was now hugging me, with tears in her eyes. I looked down at her, as I felt her tears hit my arm. “Mia…” Was the only thing I could say before she said. “I-I thought I would never see you awake again… I thought I lost you Sora…” She slowly looked up at me, with tears in her eyes. I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her. “Hey now don’t cry, I’ll always be here for you, I’ll always come back to you.” She pressed herself against me crying, I just helped her in my arms. After a few minutes passed, she sat up, breaking the hug. We just looked at each other for a bit, not saying anything to each other. “Mia… Is your mom and sister ok?” She slowly nodded. “Yeah… My mom has been worried about you since you were admitted here, and Rose… she felt bad for what she said to you… when she got mad.” I looked at Mia, with her just looking down. “Mia… wanna do something crazy?” When I said that, she looked at me, as I smiled. “W-What do you mean crazy?” She asked as I slowly got out of bed, with my legs giving out on me, as I fell to the ground. “S-Sora! A-Are you ok?” I faced her, and smiled slowly forcing my body to stand up. “Y-Yeah, just haven’t moved in three or four days.” I said laughing a bit, rubbing the back of my head. I held out my hand. “Let’s go.” She looked at before moving her hand to take mine. “W-Where are w-we go-” I quickly ran out of the room holding her hand, I felt she almost fell, but quickly regained her balance again. We ran past her mother and sister, as her mom said something, but I couldn’t hear her. We eventually reached the entrance of the hospital, running out the door. We stopped just outside the entrance, with Mia breathing a bit, looking at me, I looked back to her, smiling, seeing her smile. Finally we are back together, and I'll keep her safe, till the day I die.

Mia’s P.O.V.

We were now outside, with Sora and me smiling at each other. “S-Sora I missed you.” I heard him laugh softly. “It’s been what three or four days? That’s nothing for you right little one?” I lightly hit his shoulder, smiling he looked up breathing in the air. “Sorry, I missed you too little one.” I looked at him, as I felt my body hug him, like I have been dying to do this. He slowly hugged me back gently, for about a minute we hugged not saying anything, till my mom and sister came running out of the entrance. We quickly broke our hug, and faced them. “So this is where… you two went.” My mom said, as she was breathing hard, as Sora laughed slightly. “Y-Yeah, sorry if we worried you ma’am.” My sister sighed softly, walking up to him. “Look, you shouldn’t be up and moving like this! You just woke up from a coma, and you are already pushing your body!” Rose yelled slightly causing Sora to back up a bit, with his hair moving letting me see what looked like a deep crimson red circle. “I-I know Rose. I-I’m sorry.” He said looking down. “I know I should be resting right now…” Rose sighed softly, as she hugged him, which of course caused him to jump slightly. “You stupid i***t, we almost lost you… Just be more careful ok?...” Sora smiled hugging back gently. “Yes, I will be ok.” My sister started to cry slightly, as my mom joined in the hug. “Sora… you are like a son to me… you and your mom have been with us for so long… you are like family to us.” I could see tears swell up in mom’s eyes. “So what you are saying is you're both ok with i****t? Since you wanted me to date your daughter, now you are calling me your son? What a weird family I have now.” Sora laughed softly, with my mom actually laughing at that joke he made, and my sister lightly hitting his shoulder. “I mean I wouldn’t mind dating you in my sisters place my ‘brother’.~” Sora instantly shivered backing away. “Aww don’t scare him, we still need him Rose.” My mom said with Sora throwing his arms up. “Like I said, I have a weird family now!” This caused me to smile and giggle a bit. “Well we’ll go explain what happened to the staff this whole… uhh weirdness.” Mom said as she and Rose walked into the hospital again. I walked up to Sora, standing next to him, watching them walk in. “I haven’t heard her laugh like that in the past week, thank you.” I said, adding something really quickly. “Brother.” I quickly backed away, smiling with him looking at me. “Y-You too?! Come-on Mia, it should be father or something, you should know this little one.” He smiled lightly, with him grabbing my hand, which caused my face to flush bright red, as he lightly pulled me into the hospital entrance. “We might as well head back in, before we get in even more trouble.” I nodded softly. “Y-Yeah, good idea Sora.”

We headed inside, walking slowly back to room he was given. “I wonder if i’m going to be here for awhile.” He said when we reached his room. “Well, you were in a coma for three to four days, so they will want you to stay, to make sure you are well enough to go home Sora.” He sighed softly. “Dammit i’m going to have so much homework now.” I could only laugh softly with him looking at me. “W-What’s so funny!?” I smiled at him softly. “Nothing Sora, I already handled it, the teachers know what happened, and they said they will not count any assignments or tests against you.” He sighed in relief smiling at me. “Thanks little one, you are the best.” He patted my head, with me blushing lightly. “Y-Yeah no problem Sora!” We looked at the door to his room. “W-Well Sora I have to go, i’ll visit you everyday ok?” He nodded softly. “Yeah I would like that Mia.” We smiled at each other, as he walked back into his room. I decided to turn around and meet up with mom and Rose, but when I turned around I saw his doctor, walking to his room. She stopped and looked at me, almost glaring, like I did something wrong. “U-Um is everything ok?” I asked as she scoffed while mumbling something softly that sounded like, “Stay away from him.” She walked into his room, closing the door. “Ok what was that about?” I thought to myself to see my mom and Rose walking up to me. “Hey, ready to go home?” My mom asked, with me just nodding. “Yeah, i’m ready, i'm tired and everything.” I said softly, as we headed for the exit to go home.

Sora’s P.O.V

I sat on the bed in the room I was given, with the door opening and closing. I looked to see who it was, and to my surprise, it was nurse Liz. “Hey Sora! Had fun with your friend?” She asked, smiling and sitting next to me. “Y-Yeah, I did.” I said blushing, remembering when she kissed me. I looked at her, while she was smiling at me. “Is everything ok Sora?” I slightly jumped nodding. “Y-Yeah I’m ok, j-just thinking.” I said blushing, and now looking away. I felt her move closer to me slowly, I quickly moved away, causing her to frown slightly. “Are you sure you are ok?” I nodded slowly, not looking at her. “D-Do you know when i’ll be able to go home?” I asked as I heard a small sigh. “You’ll be able to go home in about two days, that’s the longest we can keep anyone under 18.” She said standing up from the bed, walking to her desk. I then heard a voice in my head. “It seems you have awakened, welcome back.” I looked to my side to see a dark figure in front of the doorway. It looked like he was leaning on the door, I watched as I could slowly see more of him. The shadow-like substance around him faded revealing what looked like to be a 17 year old kid with all black clothing, and pitch black hair, and his eyes were a mix of red and black. He looked at me smirking, still leaning on the wall. “Well now, out of all the contracts i’ve made, the form I took for you isn’t one I was expecting. Most people who see me, think of a monster” He didn’t move his mouth, it was like his words were being sent directly to my head. He pulled up his arm, rolling down his jacket sleeve revealing a mark on his arm, a pentagram. It flashed a crimson red color, as my neck started to burn a bit. Both my pentagram and his were flashing the same color. “We share this mark, as due to our contract we are bound to each other till the terms of our contract is complete.” I looked at him slightly confused, if he could send his thoughts to me, maybe I could do the same. “Contract? What are you talking about Higetsu?” He smirked as Liz looked towards me. “Is he a friend of yours Sora?” I slightly jumped looking at Liz. “I-I Uhh.” I couldn’t think of anything to say, when Higetsu said. “Friend? We recently just met, so I wouldn’t call him a friend but I was… worried about him so I came to check up on him.” He said smiling softly, rolling down his sleeve. “Well i’ll see you later.” He said opening the door to leave, and right as he was about to close the door I heard his voice in my head. “Master.” Then the door closed, leaving me here with Liz. 

About two days have passed now, and I was finally going to be discharged from the hospital, and I was grateful for that because my nurse seemed to be trying to get closer and closer each day. I grabbed my bag, and threw my jacket on, looking out the window. “Finally going home, I wonder if mom is ok… haven’t seen her in two whole days” I looked down at my shoes, my mom has not visited me once since I woke up, and it’s worrying me. I heard a knock on my door as I looked at the door. “Come in.” The door opened, as Liz walked in. “Hey, you ready to leave?” I nodded slowly getting up and walking to the door with my bag in hand. “Yeah, i’m ready.” I walked out the door, with Liz following me, after about a minute of walking I noticed someone waiting at the front desk, with deep blue hair, and golden eyes. “Hmm, Sora!” I watched as Mia ran to me, hugging me tightly. I smiled hugging her back, rubbing her head. “Hey little one, miss me.” She nodded looking up at me smiling. “Of course I missed you, we all missed you!” I couldn’t help but ruffle her hair slightly, as she made some kind of cute noise trying to get away. “H-Hey stop it!” I smiled and kept ruffling her hair. “Nope, it's been a whole week since I did this, so get ready!” I saw her blush while I was ruffling her hair, she eventually got free. She turned around and ran to her mom and sister. I smiled running after her. “You won’t get away!” Mia ran behind her mom and sister as I stopped in my tracks. “Mom, sis help me! He’s ruffing my hair!” I looked at them, as they had a playful glare, with me slowly backing up. “I-I uhh Ima run now ok?” I said as I ran out of the hospital, hearing Mia’s mom say to her and her sister. “Go get him.” As soon as I left the hospital I could hear both Mia and Rose running after me. “You won’t get away from us!” Rose yelled, as they were catching up to me, the reason I can tell they are getting closer is because of their footsteps and I’m somehow slower than them. I ran past a tree, tripping on a root falling flat on my face, rolling on to my back. The moment I landed on my back I saw both Mia and Rose above me. “U-Uh hey Rose, Mia w-what brings you here?” I asked nervously and slightly laughing, not moving. I saw them slowly bend over smiling. Mia was wearing a light blue shirt, with deep blue pants, while her sister is wearing a purple and green shirt, a purple jacket and purple pants. Both of their hair is blue, but Rose dyed her hair to be a mixture between purple and green. I watched as both of their hair fell over their faces. “Oh I don’t know, maybe to get pay back for you ruffling Mia’s hair.” I gulped slightly as Rose leaned on my arms and body to stop me from getting away. “Get him Mia!” She nodded as slowly put her hands in my hair, and started ruffling it. “H-Hey Mia stop.” She didn’t listen as she kept ruffling my hair as her someone with pitch-black hair walked over.

“I see you are having fun Sora.” I instantly recognized the voice as Mia and Rose looked at him. I looked up seeing Higetsu in the same clothes from two days ago, seeing him smile. “Do you know him Sora?” Rose asked me, as Higetsu said. “Yeah we know each other.” Higetsu held out his hand. “I’m Higetsu, it’s nice to meet you.” Rose got off of me, and shook his hand gently. “I’m Rose, and this is my younger sister, Mia.” Mia stayed on me, smiling and waving. “Mia and Rose huh? Interesting names.” Rose shook her head a bit, still smiling. “You talk about our names being interesting, but your name is more interesting than ours. What kind of name is Higetsu?” He looked at her, then Mia, then finally me, as I could see that weird smirk again from two days ago. “My name comes Japan, where I use to live.” This seemed to interest Rose. “Your from Japan? What’s it like?” Higetsu smilled. “Well it’s very crowded, busy, kinda noisy, but if you look close enough you can see it’s beauty.” I then heard his voice in my head. “Too bad you humans are destroying its beauty.” Rose seemed really interested then asked. “Then how did you get your name?” He looked shocked when she asked that. “My name… I don’t remember. I never knew my parents very well, it’s been so long since I last seen them.” Rose looked confused. “How long could it have been? You don’t look no older than 20 maybe younger.” Mia got off of me, standing up, as I did the same. I then heard his voice in my head again. “It’s been over a few hundred years since I last saw my parents.” He looked up slightly. “Well, time can make things seem longer than it’s actually is.” I could see the pain in his face when he said that. “Higetsu, are you ok?” He seemed shocked when I thought that, he looked at me. “Well now, I didn’t think you would get use to talking to me like this so quickly.” I sighed softly with no one hearing it. “Well it’s just sharing certain thoughts with you, it’s not that hard.” He smiled a bit, but this one was different than the normal smiles he did, he seemed slightly grateful. “Well if you learn this fast, maybe we could be friends.” Before I could send another thought I felt Mia pull my sleeve.

“Sora I think we should go.” I looked down at her, seeing her face, it had a worried look. “I see, so she has been contacted by her kind, as my kind has contacted you.” I looked at him as it seemed Mia was slightly shaking. “Mia… alright we will go,” I said, patting her head. “Rose let’s go catch up with your mom.” I could see Rose pout softly, as I smiled. “Come on let’s go.” I said walking back towards the hospital, with Mia holding onto me, and Rose not happy, but following us. I looked back to see Higetsu just watching us, smirking. “I see, well then we shall meet again… Master” Higetsu said in my mind before slowly fading away from my sight, we walked for about two minutes till we saw their mom waiting by her car. “There you all are, I was getting worried about you three.” She said, smiling gently at us, I smiled back a bit, looking around. “Where’s my mom? I thought she would be here, since she didn’t visit me once.” I saw their mom flinch slightly. “Your mom… How should I put it… She’s de-” Mia cut her off. “S-she's away on another trip!” Her mom looked shocked and quickly added. “Y-Yeah she’s away on another trip, she could be gone for awhile, so she asked us to take you in for awhile.” I looked at them tilting my head. “Oh, another trip huh, she’s been taking a lot of those lately. That makes sense why she never came to visit, and i’m guessing she took my brother with her, and Kai is most likely visiting his family..” I smiled softly. “So then I guess that makes us family till she gets back, right Phoebe?” Phoebe nodded slowly, looking away. “Y-Yeah it does, o-ok everyone get in, it’s time to go home.” I nodded as I opened the back seat door, with Mia getting in the back with me, and Rose sitting in the front seat. Eventually, I felt the car startup, as Phoebe pulled out of the drive away, and drove us home. I looked out the window, seeing buildings go by, as I felt my eyes get heavy, slowly closing them drifting off to sleep, i heard him laugh with me asleep.
