Meet Professor Gallagher

Chapter 7 Heather’s POV Despite all the exploring Alicia and I had done, I still managed to get lost on my way to my first class, I cursed under my breath as I raced up the stairs that led to my lecture theater, I was sure Alicia would have a laugh when I told her about this. With one final step, I climbed the last step and ran into the class, I froze once my eyes fell on the professor in front of the class, well I could not be sure if he was really the professor because first of all, he looked way too young to be a professor and second and most importantly, he was drop dead gorgeous with his styled blond hair and chiseled jaw, as he turned his eyes to see the latecomer that had disturbed his once peaceful class, I realized they were a beautiful shade of hazel, he had a long well proportioned nose and his lips were the perfect kind, not too full and not to thin, they were just right, he was dressed formally in black suit pants and a white button down shirt, he was also wearing a black jacket, I found myself wondering if this what all the professors in NYU looked like because if that was the case I was going to enjoy all my classes without a single doubt. “I asked you a question Miss and when I ask a question, I expect an answer very quickly” The gorgeous man said to me, his voice was deep and low. I quickly gathered my wits around me, I had already made a fool of myself by coming late and now, I was going to make an even bigger fool of myself by asking the professor to repeat his question because I had not heard anything he said before, I had not even seen his lips move even once because I had been too busy ogling him. I cleared my throat nervously and said “I am sorry Sir, I did not grab your question” I noticed something flash in the professor’s eyes, irritation perhaps, I could not really be sure. “What is your name Miss?” he asked, not bothering to hide the irritation he was feeling at my behavior. “Heather Grahams, sir” I stuttered. “Well Miss Grahams, I asked what is your reason for barging into my class and disrupted my lecture?” he said, his hazel eyes watching me like a hawk stalking a prey. I swallowed and said “I am sorry Sir, I got lost trying to find the lecture venue and I was hurrying to arrive in time” He gave me one more condescending look before he said “Quickly find yourself a seat and sit down, do not disrupt my class for the remainder of the lesson” “Yes sir” I said as I hurried up the stairs to find a seat at the far end of the class, away from the other students who were giving side glances but most importantly, I wanted to stay far away from the professor’s piercing gaze. When I had finally settled in my chair far away from him, the professor resumed his lecture “As I was saying before I was interrupted, my name is William Gallagher and I will be your professor on Business psychology through out your first year in this university, I have certain rules that will guide us through out our time together, first of all, I detest tardiness, you must always be on time and secondly, you are expected to answer me immediately I ask a question and I do take kindly to background noises during my class, am I understood?” he said, his deep voice filled up the entire lecture theater. We answered in the affirmative and then he nodded and said “Very good, let us begin our class then” Professor Gallagher might be an arrogant ass but he was a gorgeous ass and even more than that, he was a gorgeous ass that was great at his job, he explained the course in a way that I was sure every single student present in the lecture hall understood what he was saying, I really enjoyed my first class in college. “Well I think that is all we have time for today, I will see all in the next class” Professor Gallagher said and closed his book. There a rustle of movement as students began filing out of the hall, I waited until everyone had left before I stood up to leave, Professor Gallagher still stood in front of the class, I hurried towards the door so that I did not have to look at him, I was close to the door, just a few more steps and I will be out of the room and then suddenly “Miss Grahams” I heard the professor’s deep voice call out to me. I froze mid step and slowly turned around to look at him. He had stepped down from the podium and was standing a few feet away from where I stood “Yes Professor” I asked with shaking voice, there was something about him and how he unnerved me, perhaps it was his eyes or how he carried himself with an outstanding level of arrogance and pride. “Have we perhaps met somewhere before, for some reason, I find you very familiar” he said and took a step closer to me. “I do not think so Professor because I just recently moved to New York City” I said, trying very hard not to notice that he was just two feet away from where I stood now, he stood towering over me, his piercing looking at me closely. “I never said I had seen you in New York City, London perhaps” he said. I was rather surprised when he mentioned London, since that was where I lived but I was sure I had never seen him before, I would have surely remembered. “That may be possible since I moved here from London but I do not recall meeting you before” I said looking into those piercing eyes. Then suddenly an unexpected smile broke his rather icy features, there was something about that smile sent heat rising in my belly. “I am afraid I was mistaken, sorry for taking much of your time Miss Grahams, you can leave now, I am sure you will not want to be late for your next class as well” he said and then gestured to the door. There was something odd about this entire conversation but I chose not to dwell on it, I simply nodded and said “Yes Professor, I should hurry, I definitely do not want to be late for my next class, have a nice day ahead Professor” He smiled once more and the heat rose in my belly once more, I gave an awkward smile and turned away quickly. “One more thing Miss Grahams” I heard him say from behind me. I turned around to look at him once more “Yes Professor” “Do not be late for our next class” he said. “Yes Professor” I said with the same awkward smile and then walked out of the lecture theater quickly.
