Now, speaking on the wasp' event, I think that my mum's superstitious belief is not a genuine belief. After fearing what would happen to me in the spring, nothing happened. It is true, 'stranger danger.' My mum kept making this statement to warn us about strangers. We can stick to that by being cautious of how we deal with strangers and not collecting Food from them. Of all the things we should not do to strangers; walking with them, collecting Food from them, trusting them, etc, admiring them should not be one of them.
All living creatures were created with a feature which makes them to admire things most especially their opposite s*x. For instance, I kept seeing the movie of a turkey always dancing whenever it saw a female. We laughed at it. Also our neighbour said that he was being attacked by a lizard but the lizard on seeing a female lizard left him and began to nod his head looking at the female. My mum told us that they did those to impress the female. I wanted to ask her then what made it bad for us to admire beautiful strangers because those females were strangers to the turkey and lizard too.
Ok, I was already lost in thought but this was the time to be happy. I had moved more long distance until I came across the first house in the village. I thought I was going to see any gate but the village had no gate. What was there instead was a poster welcoming me to the village.
I trotted in like a king but was still hungry. I looked around as I moved searching for where I could find any left over food. I looked ahead and saw a very beautiful teenage girl and just immediately I saw her, someone who was running nearly marched me and I was lucky he didn't march me. Maybe it's because I didn't look extremely into the beautiful face of the girl. Then it brought me back to my previous thoughts. Maybe my mum was right. I think the turkey is always terribly murdered and cooked and eaten by humans because it loves admiring and dancing for strangers. Likewise the lizard who is always stoned down by human kids. But, "no!" I said to myself. "My mum may not be wrong because she learnt it, but the belief is wrong. Everything that happens in life happens on it's own, when nature wants it and not based on any odd belief.
I saw that the person was a boy who was probably in love with the girl and ran to her immediately he saw her. As I turned, behind me was a very ugly lizard with a red head. It was as if it has been reading my mind and saw everything I have been saying about it and decided to come and teach me a lesson. It was not like the dog that could not see me. It began to give me a hot chase and I ran like a moving vehicle. I came closer to an old building with a c***k on it's walls and I ran into the c***k and through it entered the building. With that, the lizard lost me as it could not pass through the c***k. It left in anger and I became relieved. As I sighed and looked up, in front of me lied what I have been looking for. Leftover foods were on the floor in the room.
I climbed down and began to eat all I could. I ate with much enthusiasm and gusto. When I was full, I carried a very big Bean seed from the scraps and began to leave. I brought it in case I became hungry again. Down there In my home, there were factories where different kinds of food were made. Our food is very much different from the ones that humans eat. We just get their leftovers and process it.
"So this is it?" I thought as I went. So this is the Rome that I went to build in a day? You remember the Paradise story? Well, I was going back to meet the heap of sand on top of my home. Now, I was thinking of how I would create another hole so that I could store the Bean seed. Not only that, I will have to be going out every day to get more food which means, this would not be my only dangerous journey.
I began to pass an Ant lion's home. (Ant lions were our most dreaded predator). The children were playing ball and immediately they saw me, I heard one say to the other, "let's go and collect his stuff from him." I walked faster and they ran after me. But they heard their dad calling them and ran back to their home. If I had counted the number of times that I heaved a sigh of relief on this journey, I would have realized how lucky I kept being.
Well the journey continued. I wished I could close my eyes and open them to see myself right where I came from because, the journey back would be too long as it was while coming. I also wished that the beautiful girl wasp would show up and we would keep chatting until I reach my destination. You see, I was beginning to like this wasp and I was going to make her the subject of my contradiction to my mum's superstitious belief.
But suddenly, what I did not wish for happened. That same hawk that I saw on my way still going to the village square that caused me to believe mum's superstitious belief Came again. As it saw me, it flew straight towards me and lifted both me and my Bean by it's beak. It was then flying away with me high up into the sky and forward. It wanted to eat me. I panicked. The Bean that I was carrying fell from the sky and I was sad that I have lost it. Already, the Hawk's beak was hurting me.
As we were moving, I heard a g*n blast, 'boom' and the hawk yelled and fell. It was shot down by a hunter. Immediately it yelled, I was I out of it's beak and I was falling from the sky. I shouted as I fell. I knew I would crash to pieces and nothing more. As, I came closer to the ground, I fell directly into a hole and landed on a table. What must I be thinking? Did I die during the fall and landed on my own Paradise? There were plates and spoons set on the table as though some people wanted to eat lunch.
I looked forward and saw my Bean seed. Really? Did it follow me to Paradise. I later realized that I was not dead or subconscious when I heard my name, "Tobey." Then, I saw my parents and my brother whom I thought were dead. They were very happy to see me and I was very surprised to see them. "Tobey, is this yours?" My dad asked presenting the big Bean to me. I said, "yes, how did you get it?" "It fell on top of our table from above" my mum said, "we were worried. We thought you were dead." My brother said, "no, we believed you were dead and we kept asking God to give you back to us and he answered our prayers and threw you down from heaven alongside this Bean as a token." We all laughed. "By the way, where did you just fall from?" My dad asked and I teased, "a hawk brought me home." They laughed at me.
Unlike what I kept believing, the erosion did not block my home but it moved it to another side. That moment, I was missing the girl wasp. Then, I called my mum, "mum, I have something to tell you." "Speak son." She said. "It is not bad luck to look at the face of a beautiful stranger at all." "What?" She uttered, "why do you say so?" Now, I'm explaining to her.
THE HUNGRY ANT AND THE BIG BEAN
