My choice matters please!

My best friend

Today being Sunday,my parents woke us all early in the morning to prepare for church.I sluggishly arose from my bed because to honest I didn't feel like attending church.But I knew my parents especially mum won't allow it."Ade go take your bath quickly,u know u have to pray u get admitted to the same school as your sister tomorrow",she said from the kitchen she was preparing breakfast.With that being said,I hurried up because I couldn't afford to repeat class.We all took our breakfast and hurried to the car and zoomed off to church.

After service,Vera prepared lunch for us all'fried yam and egg sauce my favorite '.It was so tasty that I thought to myself 'i need to learn how to cook oo',I think I'll start staying in the kitchen more often.My dad just savoured all the food in no time and berged loudly."Dad ,adhere to table manners" ,vera said calmly.My Dad just smiled ,heaved a sigh and went to the couch to lay.While my sis cleaned up the plates and tables, I just sat on the dining table wondering what tomorrow has for me;'Will I get admitted into SS3?I hope so.

The next day ,after our usual preparations,we boarded a taxi at exactly 7:30 am to school because my Dad has already left to work in his car .Since he's a taxi driver ,he needs to leave home early for work.When we arrived at the school,I couldn't help but admire the beautiful paintings and decorated flowers.Vera went and joined the assembly line ,she stood at the SS1 line bcoz that's her class.Thereafter my mum and I left for the principal's office.When we entered,we were offered sits and my mum and the principal spoke in polite tone regarding my admission.After much plea from my mum ,he agreed and a teacher was sent for to take me to my class. I waved goodbye to my mum as she left while I followed the teacher upstairs to my class.

"Good morning Ma" the students greeted immediately we entered the class.I won't lie I was nervous and a bit shy but I tried as much as possible to cover it up."Lets welcome our new student,please you all should make him feel comfortable,Please introduce urself to everyone",The teacher said politely.

"Good morning everyone,My name is Ade Oluwatosin".I replied.I could hear some of them saying welcome,while few was just staring at me .

"Please go and seat at the front sit next to Peter",The female teacher said calmy.

"Thank u ma for your kind gesture "I said as I went straight to my sit and sat down.

After our first lesson and second lesson,a male teacher worked in and told us all to start registering for JAMB for all who are interested in writing this year.Immediately my face went sour because I knew I won't even discuss it with my parents,after all ,I wasn't going to study my dream course.Then ,he left, and immediately I heard a bell ring and I knew it'll be break time because of the way the students cheered.

"Hi,my name is Johnson,u can call me john",a boy from behind said to me as he extended his hand for a handshake which I took."Let's go for lunch then",I said."yeah,sure",John replied.

While eating,we conversed together and laughed at each other jokes.

'Wait John,who's that girl that just passed by ?

'Ohh that girl, she's our class girl and the Head girl of the great 'Priston Academy',he emphasized.

'Wow, she's pretty,I said .

He chuckled, don't tell me you like her already.

"No oo ,not yet , her beauty just caught my attention, though I didn't see her in class.

"Ok oo let me believe you because indeed she's beautiful,her name is Lucy and she loves sitting at the back sit where she can have an overview of everything happening in the class, maybe that's the reason u didn't see her.

"okay thanks for the information",I said to him.

Just then the bell rang for break over and we both ran into the class to avoid being late for the next lesson'Biology'.

The biology teacher walked in and we all stood up greeted him.I was shocked to see that he was male.Although it didn't matter,but it was my first time seeing a male that taught biology.

Alright class, where did we stop at our lesson?

We stopped at 'Ecosystem'

Okay,today our next topic is Parasitism.

Firstly,who can tell me what he or she understands by the word Parasitism?

Yes, Lucy,you raised your hands , okay tell us.

And the class turned their attention towards Lucy as she stood up from her seat.

"Sir,in my own understanding, Parasitism involves a host and a parasite,whereby the parasite feeds on the host deriving benefits and nourishments,while the host is being harmed in the process,thanks". She said fluently as she took her seat immediately and everyone started clapping .

"That was brilliant"The teacher commended.

"Is her courageousness for me",I said within myself smiling

The teacher continued with lessons,then left .Thereafter,other teachers took turns and taught the class.

Finally,bell for school over was rung, everyone dispersed to their various homes,I bid my friend goodbye before I saw my sister Vera already waiting for me, and we trekked back home.When I arrived at home.When we arrived,my mum welcomed us.Out of curiosity,she asked,how was your first day at school.

It was good mum don't worry, I told her.

Then my sister freshened up and started preparing dinner.

"Vera pls cook prepare beans oo",I said to my sister.

"No ,I don't like beans, I'll cook rice today, perhaps next time I'll prepare beans".

I knew it was pointless arguing with her because her mind was made up already.

I just sat on the couch and recalled all of my experiences,deep down I knew I liked Lucy at first sight but I decided to play it cool. Then Johnson who made me feel comfortable,I can't help but say loudly to myself; 'He's my best friend with whom am well pleased with '.
