NORA'S POV
No! No! No!......Why the earth was he here? I wasn't expecting him, I wasn't prepared to see his face again. Not after, so many years. I slowly backed away from his touch, I took a moment to regain my composure.
I cleared my throat and stare at him in the face, even though I had cleared throat. I didn't have anything to say, No! Rather, I had a lot of things to say but this was hardly the time or place and he probably wanted me to talk first. I wasn't going to give him that.
"Um....I thought, it was you. It's nice to meet you again."
It's nice to meet me? What the hell was he saying? I never thought he would be lost for words like this, but looking at him staring at me so blankly as if there were a million things he wanted to say to me but he couldn't find the right words. I smiled at myself, I had reached that level where I had stunned him with my growth.
"I need to go now, excuse me." I walked away gallantly with a triumphant smile, I left the washroom and weaved a sigh of relief.
I couldn't believe it? He still had that effect on me after so many years, what was my next move now? Why the hell was he even here? I had to return back to seat and a thought crossed my head, what would happen if he follows me? No, this has to be a coincidence or something, I caught Anna face from a distance as she signaled me to hurry.
I took my place seat and continued watching the auction play out, from the corner of my eyes. A man slowly took a seat beside me and I growled inwardly, this had happened multiple times in Canada.
Men trying to get in pants with their sweet words and money.
I turned to see the figure and my breath seized for a moment.
"It's really you, how have you been?"
"Why do you care?"
I felt like I was being to harsh, but then I recalled what he did to me. He then, groaned lowly a sound i remembered all too well, one that used to signal his frustration or disappointment but it was no longer my problem.
"What do you want exactly? Are you stalking me now? Is that your thing now? Do you think that I am within your reach again? You better forget about it, I am not the person I used to be five years ago."
A light smile appeared on his face, as I looked at him briefly. I blushed immediately. Even though, he was a few feets away from me after 5 years, he still had that nerve-wracking hold over me.
"It's funny how you would think of that, no that is not why I am here."
"Then why?" I groaned.
"A few years ago, you took something that belonged to me. I am here to take it back."
The nerve of this man! Was he calling me a thief?
"How dare you accuse me of being a thief?"
"Because that's what you are Nora, you took my heart with you the moment you left and left me empty."
Was he for real right now? What is this? And why was he trying to sweet talk his way into my life when he was the one who caused all this mess. But, his words didn't fail to leave a mark in my thoughts, as my mind drifted to the first night we had together.
He sat down on the bed, as I stood before him with my bra and panties. Ethan’s breath was against as he whispered,
"Take it off baby."
For some reason, those words turned me on more than any other word was capable of doing, as soon as I laid bare and naked in front of him.
His eyes roamed all over my body, as he moved closer to me. His fingers brushed my cheek, sending shivers down my spine. "You’re breathtaking tonight. I can't believe you're mine."
I could remember him, kissing me so passionately. I wanted him so badly.
I hurriedly shook my head snapping me back to reality, before he mistook my silence as an approval for something.
"Whatever game, you have here now. It won't work on me, so I suggest you stop what it is you are doing."
"I know, it may not work but that doesn't mean I will stop trying to make you happy." He said to me and I growled.
I searched my corner to look for Anna, but she wasn't available. I desperately needed her to help me out of this situation.
"Where the hell is she?" I muttered angrily to myself, she wasn't in the room and Ethan grinned widely.
"if you are looking for your assistance, she is a little busy." His grin on his face made it clear, that he had something to do with it.
"What did you do to her?" I asked him with a growl and he spoke softly.
"I only distracted her a little with my PA, so I could sit and talk to you." He said calmly.
"You know, you could get her fired because of this act right?" I asked him.
"Just hear me out, bab....."
"DON'T. CALL. ME. THAT. And I'm not interested in anything you have to say and in case you haven't noticed, I am quite busy at the moment."
I got up just as they called me to come give a speech, in the corner of my eyes as I stood on the stage to thank everyone who participated in the auction, I saw him looking completely dejected. He has probably thought that I would listen to him, but he had no idea I didn't want to see him ever again.
He had ruined my life and it took all that I had to get back on my feet again, so I couldn't do it. He was now married to Vanessa and I wish him a happy life.
I couldn't believe that I beat myself up over him, thinking that it was my fault that he cheated on me.
As I got a standing ovation, as I was descending from the stairs. My assistant quickly came out of a corner and followed me, I spun around and told her.
"The next time, you see that man you were playing with. Stay away from him or you can hand me your resignation letter."
Her eyes widened with shock as she began bowing her head to apologize to me.
The guard opened the car, as I was about to step in. Then, I caught sight of Ethan who was holding an invite on his hand.
He handed me the invite.
"What is this?"
"An invitation."
"What makes you think that I will be interested in an invitation from you."
"Oh, I am quite sure you would want it. It is biggest auction in town, and you would have the chance to meet investors and billionaire. Thus expanding, your network."
I rose an eyebrow at him, we have indeed been. trying to get an invitation, but because we were recently established to the city and we had very little connections. It was clear that we wouldn't get invited until now...
"Why are you giving it to me?"
"My company hosting it and you need network, since you are new in town kind of and um......" He bit his lips with a pause.
"And what?"
"I need a chance to see you again."
