"Evelyn your smile is stunning! Can you give me that same sparkle with the pose?"
"Let me try."
"What's wrong with her? She was moving perfectly yesterday. What had gotten into her?" Phoenix muttered to himself.
But Evelyn wasn't responding well to the photoshoot, she wasn't moving sync with the directions given.
Phoenix's eyes narrowed, his mind racing to understand the sudden shift. "Yesterday fluid movement have given way to awkward stumbles. What's possesed her?" He wondered, his inner monologue a jumble of curiosity and concern.
"Okay Evelyn, let's try this pose. Can you angle your face slightly to the left and relax your shoulders? Perfect!"
"Mr. Phoenix can you give me a break?" Evelyn said exhausted.
"But you just had a minute break just now!"
" Please..." She pleaded.
Phoenix hesitated for a moment, puting his hand on his forehead. "I'm getting sick of this girl; she's draining my spirit." Phoenix muttered in his mind. "Is this how she behaves as a kids? I really feel for her poor mother."
"Mr. Phoenix, are you listening?"
Mr. Phoenix's thoughts were interrupted by Evelyn, who brought him back to reality.
"Take your time, I'll be here when you're ready. Go ahead and take those five minutes." Phoenix declared.
Evelyn's aunt Rose called out to her, "Evelyn, what's wrong?" Her aunt Rose asked, concern etched on her face. "You've been acting strange since you left Europe six months age. Is there something on your mind that you need to share with me?"
Rose gave her a glass of water, her warm smile offered silent comfort.
Evelyn reached for the glass, buy her fingers missed the rim. The walls seemed to lean inwards, the floor a gentle tilting beneath her feet. A flicker danced across her eyes bright spots blooming and fading like fireflies.
She blinked. Once. Twice. The voices around her turned muffled, distant, like they were underwater.
Her breath caught. Her knees buckled and then, silence
Her body crumpled like paper on the floor.
"Oh... my little role model is in the hospital," Phoenix gasped, his voice trembling with emotion as he turned to Rose.
"What's wrong with you, blockhead?" Why are you crying like a baby?" Rose snapped, eyeing him with a confusion.
Phoenix quickly wiped away the crocodile tears trailing down his cheek. "Do you've any idea who's going to give me those jaw dropping pose Evelyn used to strike? Rose this a disaster!" Then he paused, squinting at her. "Wait... did you just call me a blockhead?"
Rose rolled and her eye and let out an exasperated sigh. "Ho my God, you are a blockhead. A real one." She muttered under her breath, just as the doctor creaked open.
The doctor stepped out, clipboard in hand, his face calm and professional. "Congratulations," he said. "She's four months pregnant."
Rose's eyes widened as Phoenix's jaw dropping in disbelief. The room stood still for a best just long enough for reality to settle in.
As they burst into the room, Rose swept Evelyn into a tender embrace, her voice a soothing whispered in her ear. 'my darling, how're you feeling?' she cooed. Evelyn's voice was weaked but reassuring: "much better now."
"Evelyn you're pregnant," Phoenix interrupted. Evelyn showed no emotion at the news. Instead, she asked, "am I pregnant?" Rose interjected, "yes Evelyn, you're four months pregnant.?
"Rose, when do you think we'll get married and start having kids?" Phoenix said with a mischievous grin. Rose raised an eyebrow and said, "If I hear another word from you, I'll cut out your tongue, I mean it." Rose warned.
Evelyn smiled, sitting up and admiring the both of them as they were quarrelling like five-year-old kids, she smile a bit and then said, 'you guys are making me sick," she laughed as she muttered under her breath.
"Evelyn, I hope that bastard spawn isn't growing inside you," Rose spat, her voice laced with venom, Evelyn response was calm, detached: "it isn't." Rose eyes narrowed. "Then whose is it?" She demanded, her tone accusatory.
"It's a long story, aunt," Evelyn replied her voice weary.
Phoenix intervened, his voice a soothing balm. "Rose, perhaps this conversation can wait? Can't you see she needs to rest."
Rose's gazed lingered on Evelyn, her expression a mix of concern and curiosity. Phoenix word hung In the air, a gentle rebuke.
