“What do you have against Carl?” I asked, swimming towards Riley. She was sitting down at the edge of the pool, moving her legs slowly in the water.
Riley was taken aback by my question; her sunglasses nearly fell off her hair, but she quickly adjusted it. “I don't have anything against beta Carl.” She lied nervously.
Riley didn't know that I had noticed her sudden changes of mood, along with how she gets weirdly nervous when Carl is around. There is something about him she wasn't telling me; I'm sure of it.
I don't know much about Carl, but seeing the way he handled Vera, without Axel and me knowing, must mean that he's not a bad guy.
