Chapter 5

Give Into Me! Myra I let Fletcher sweet talk his way inside that night. I could never say no to the man. Though I was hurting I did not let him really know that I knew he did not ask me to marry him. Stephanie had come by before he had. She told me that he wanted to ask me. But he could not ask me right now. What was so hard about spending the rest of your life with someone? What was so hard to commit? I admit there are many things I have yet to learn about Fletcher. I had never met any of his family. He talked about his mother some. He had come from a large family and he said they were all over the world. He had met my whole family when he attended Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter with us. My family loved Fletcher as much as I did. Some weekends Fletcher would play football in the yard at my parents with my brother's son's Eric and Gary. He was so good with kids to. They were drawn to Fletcher. I also was confused on the fact of if Fletcher knew I found the ring why did just not talk to me about it? Maybe he was ashamed because he did not ask me. I really do not know what his reasons are. Maybe one day I would understand them. Right now, my heart did not get it at all. Not at all. I was nearly done with this work day. All I wanted to do was go home. It was rainy outside. The rain fit my mood for the day. Stephanie comes in with the mail for the day. ♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ "So, did you guys make up?" she wonders. I nod. I keep working as we talk. "We had. But he did not tell me about asking me to marry him. Why did he tell you?" I blurt out. "He figured you found the ring because it was in another pocket. He was worried. He does plan on asking you. Give him time" Stephanie tells me. I shake my head. "Maybe it is not a wise idea to marry Fletcher anyway" "What do you mean?" she asks me. "I have never met his family. I do not know him all that well yet. He knows everything about me. Sometimes he is a bit mysterious" I tell her. She frowns. "Why would he hide anything from you? I am sure there is a reason for his actions" "I know what they are. Here are the plain facts. He does not trust me" I blurt out. I blink back tears. What had I ever done for Fletcher not to trust me? Maybe Stephanie could help me figure that out. "No, I doubt that" she argues. "Just give it time" "I am. Trust me, on that I am" I sigh. "Love is worth the wait" she points out. "some of us do not have boyfriends" she reminds me. Someone comes in the store. An odd-looking man wearing a trench coat. He was tall. Had sunglasses on. He had a bag and a pad of paper with him. "Excuse me, I am new in this town. I am looking for a man that goes by the name Fletcher Garrison" the man asks me as he pulls his sunglasses on his head. "What do you want with Fletcher?" Stephanie demands to know. He looks curiously over at her. "Do you know this man?" he asks us. He shows us a photo of Fletcher. I nod. "He is my boyfriend" I tell him. "I can give him a message if you want" something did not sit right with me about this man asking questions. I was not going to tell him where Fletcher worked. "He is from California correct?" he asks me. I nod. "Yes" I answer. "Is Fletcher in some sort of trouble?" I ask. "I am not at liberty to say. Thank you for your time and trouble" the man tells me. He heads out of the store. "What was up with that? I am going to follow that man. Tell Mrs. J that I will be right back" I tell Stephanie as I rush to follow the man out there. Thankfully he was still there. Snooping around the town. I make sure he does not see me following him. I watch as he makes his way over across town. Where Fletcher worked at the little gas station. He had his camera out. He was snapping photos of Fletcher who was helping an older gentleman with his car. It looked like they were putting air in one of the tires. I frown as I wonder why he was taking photos of Fletcher. I head back to the shop. "So, what did you find out?" Stephanie asks me. I shake my head. "Really weird. He was over at Fletcher's garage. He was taking photos of him" "Why?" she wonders. "Your guess is as good as mine" I sigh. "Question is should I tell Fletcher about this?" I wonder to her. She nods yes. "I think you should. What if that is why he is not telling you about his past? Maybe his past is catching up to him here" Stephanie has to say out loud. "I think you might be right about that" I gulp. ♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ After work was done, I text Fletcher asking me to meet him at my apartment. I was going to tell him about the strange man who was asking questions about him yet knew where he was. It did not add up. Something was very very wrong here. When I got home I changed into comfy clothing. There is a knock at my door. Fletcher. I let him in. Then he pulls me in his embrace and holds me close. I wrap my arms around him. I love my mystery man. That was one thing I understood about him. He made me love him. "I came as soon as I got off. Something wrong?" he worries. I lead him over to the couch. We sit down together. "A man came to the shop today. He was asking me about you. He had a photo of you. Then I had a strange feeling to follow him out of there. I saw him go over to where you were working. Not sure why he asked about you if he already knew where you were in town. He was taking photos of you" I ramble out to Fletcher. "I thought you had a right to know" "Thank you for telling me. I am not sure why anyone would want to follow me" he says to me. ♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ He did not look that surprised. He looked more worried about this then shocked. I think he was hiding whatever it was he knew. Again, proving the fact that he did not trust me. Why be with someone if you did not trust them? What good would come of that? I feel so frustrated with all of this right now. I rub my forehead with my hand. What was going on? And would that weird man come back to bother me again?? "If that man comes back around at any time call me at the station. Alright?" demands Fletcher sternly. I nod. "Sure" I say. "Thank you for telling me. You did the right thing. Do not follow him again though. That might be dangerous" he warns me. "I do not want anything to happen to you" he worries. He takes my hand then kisses the top of my hand. "I would never put my life in danger" I say to him. "I just had a feeling to follow him" "Promise me, Myra leave this man alone" he begs me. He truly looked worried about me. I nod. "I promise Fletch" he kisses me. "Good. Can I stay the night? Unless you are sick of me" he jokes. "I would love that. Sure" I agree. "You know, I was thinking" he rambles on. "Oh?" "Why don't we move into together? We are always together. Either my place or yours or we can get a new place. It does not matter. What do you think?" he asks me. ♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ I blink feeling surprised. Would a man with something to hide want to share a home with someone? No. This was good. "Yes Fletch! I would love that idea. You can move in here with me" I offer. He beams a happy smile. "Wonderful! I will be packing up this weekend. I do not have much anyway" he tells me. He kisses me. "You make me so happy Myra. This is going to be a big step for us" I grin at him happily. "Yes, this will be. Coming home to each other every night. Waking to each other every morning" I giggle. "I hate going back to that empty home when I have been with you. I can't wait to move in with you!" he declares joyfully. He holds me close. Was it the best idea to get serious and move in with a man who was hiding things from me? Or maybe I would learn more about him while he moved in with me. That might put all my worries about Fletcher at ease. Either way things were looking up for us. I did like the idea of him moving in with me. ♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ ♥♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ ♥ ♫♪ְֱ ♥♫♪ְֱ
