Chapter 6

"Rylan honey, go up to your room" her voice was not stern yet not polite. I knew the drill though. Whenever mom said those words she meant that I should go to my room and hide somewhere until she finds me and only she is allowed to find me.

At first I used to think it was just a normal game that we would play but one day I decided to not listen. I went to my mom's room and little did I know that I would find out the most hurtful thing ever. Mom sends me to my room everyday because she doesn't want me to get beaten. Cesar would come home everyday drunk and start hitting her. She would make me hide so he wouldn't bear me.

Noting the urgency in her voice. I quickly decide to go up to my room and hide under the bed. Under the bed is my favorite spot to hide because mom had added some blankets and pillow so it comfy and Cesar never finds me there

I waited and waited for her to come to find me however it's been 4 hours now. She usually never leaves me this long though I decide to stay put incase Cesar finds me.

Something feels different though. I felt different when I heard Cesar's footsteps enter the house the earlier. I felt it in the way she spoke to me. I feel it as I lay under my bed. I am feeling it as the entire house descends into silence and silence alone

The house is too quite but I wait. I wait for some signs. I wait to hear a noise. But there's nothing until I hear a scream

It's Cesar and he called my name. He calls it again and again and then it's

I can't take it anymore so I roll out of under the bed and run to my mom's room as I enter my whole body shuts down.

Tears stream down my face as I see my mother's lifeless body surrounded by a pool of Scarlett blood. Her face is swollen and there is many bruises all over her body due to being beaten by Cesar. However her body looks at peace. She looks so relaxed like all her problems has been vanished.

I notice a letter in her hand with my name written on it so I lean down to fetch it. Ceasars notices and grabs the letter out of mom's hand

"dad that is my letter"

"shut up Rylan let me read it"

"no give it back" I leap forward to snatched it from him but he pushes me away

"Rylan don't make me hit you"

"no give it to me mom wrote it for me just give it back"

Then I fall back and my cheek stings. He just slapped me. I stay on the floor and hold my mom's body for the last time. Memorizing her face so I never forget it and lastly wait till I take revenge for all my mothers pain, sufferings and not to mention death.

"f*****g b***h" he throws the letter on me, dials a number and leaves me alone in the room with my mother's lifeless body and mysterious letter
