Chapter Eight

1080 Words
Serena's POV "What happened?" The voice growls. I press myself into the corner to hide myself The air is filled with a kind undeniable pressure that I can't even explain. The air is tight with a kind of overpowering dominance that seems to take over everything. I can always feel the waves of dominance he is releasing. Whoever this is is more than just an Alpha, he is.... something else, something out of this world. A beast. If I thought the Alpha female was scary then he is a monster something out of a nightmare but strangely, my instincts tell me that although he is very much dangerous, he is not a danger to me. I assume that my instincts must still be suffering from the effects of our trauma and retreat further into myself, getting ready for impact. For a while everything is silent before the female speaks. "Alpha," She sounds submissive but her tone still exudes the same kind of confidence he had before. I find it astonishing that is isn't cowering right beside me. "I said, what happened?" His growly voice runs through me. It sounds raspy, like he hasn't spoken in a while. "Why is my mate crouched on the ground?" This is bad, now I'm in big trouble, I made the Alpha female crouch on the ground and worse is the fact that she is this scary shifter's mate. What am I going to do? He sounds like he can snap me in half without even trying. "I apologize, Alpha, I didn't mean to scare the Luna. I was going to change her wound dressing when I saw her in the hall." I lift my head slightly to see if there is another person who is crouched on the floor, the Luna they are referring to until I come to the realization that it's me. I'm the Luna they're talking about. "She got hysterical and started panicking so I called you. I'm not used to this kind of thing." She sounds almost like she's scolding him. No, it can't be, any normal person would tremble in the presence of someone with such an overwhelming presence and I haven't even seen him yet apart from the fact that his legs seem to be the size of tree trunks. He seems to have picked up on her tone. "Raven, I don't have time to indulge your smart mouth. Just back away from her, you're scaring her." He growls at the female Alpha whose name I just learnt. "You're one to talk." She mutters underneath her breath. "I can hear you." "Fine, fine I'll back away from your precious Luna." They bicker almost like siblings. I've never seen this kind of exchange before. The Alpha Male is clearly the leader but she doesn't seem to be afraid of him. "Hello there," His voice sounds almost.... gentle. It isn't until my eyes meet his forest green irises that I realize that I have lifted my head up. I was too intrigued by their exchange and I forgot myself. The Alpha is crouched low in an attempt to seem less threatening to me which is a mystery. Why would an Alpha want to stop so low to do this. This place is very confusing. He reaches out a hand to touch me and I instinctively flinch away. Something that looks like hurt crosses his eyes but it is gone almost is soon as it appears. His gaze shifts to my the bleeding wound in my head which has started to pour out more profusely. He looks at the wound like it has personally offended him. "You're hurt. You need treatment. Now." He says curtly. His words only cause me to shift backwards away from him. "It's alright, nothing is going to touch you here, you're safe." He talks to me like I am a frightened, wounded animal and in a way, I am. He slowly holds out his hand for me to take, making sure not to make any sudden movements. I eye the large appendage warily like it might suddenly turn into a weapon. I bet he doesn't even need a weapon his hands are large enough to squeeze the life out of me. Without breaking his gaze from mine, he exposes his neck in a sign of submission and I hear a collective gasp of surprise. I look up to see that Raven is as shocked as I am. Amongst wolf Shifters, the neck is the most vulnerable part of us, where our essence lie and where we receive our mate marks. Exposing your neck to someone ultimately means you are surrendering your life to them to do with as they please. That is why most wolves expose their necks to their Alphas as a sign that their lives belongs to them. It is unheard of, almost a taboo for a an Alpha to expose his neck to his pack apart from during the ascension ceremony when he becomes an Alpha. This is why Alphas never bow to anyone. The fact that the most powerful Alpha I have every seen exposes himself to me, a weak pathetic Omega who does not even smell like a wolf seems just... IMPOSSIBLE. "I would never hurt you. I swear it by the Moon goddess, Mea Lunaria." My eyes widen in remembrance. "It was you." I whisper. "Si, mi amor, I was the one that rescued you. After 500 years, I finally brought you home." I remember the events that have been buried in my memories. His familiar overwhelming presence, Him promising revenge on those who hurt me and, I gasp calling me his mate. My eyes widen in shock. "That's impossible. I can't have a mate. N-not again, not again." I feel an a flood of emotions as fresh fear grips me, the pain from the cut off mate bond still festering like in infested wound in my heart. I knew I was not safe, Micheal must have worked with him to do all this. I have to get out of here right now. While I am still panicking, my breaths coming out in labored huffs, he pulls me into his arms and strokes my hair. I expect myself to start trembling but strangely his scent calms me down. "Shhh, it's alright now you're save. Nothing is going to hurt you anymore." My breath evens causing my muscles to relax as a float back into a state of darkness once more.
