Chapter 10: The War of Spotlight

410 Words
Chloe walked into the studio in a black hoodie, sunglasses shielding half her face. But no disguise could protect her from the storm. Whispers. Camera clicks. And worse—Mila Lane, standing confidently at the entrance, dressed in an elegant red gown that screamed “Look at me.” “Oh my God,” Mila gasped dramatically, “Chloe Reed! What a surprise. Didn’t expect to see you back so soon.” Chloe removed her sunglasses slowly, her smile sharp as a blade. “Mila, you must be exhausted. Running around stealing scripts, roles… and now pretending to be me?” Mila blinked but recovered quickly. “I’d never steal anything, Chloe. I just know how to keep what others throw away.” Boom. Cameras flashed. Reporters nearby scribbled notes. PR agents froze. But Chloe didn’t flinch. “I’m not here for the role. I’m here to watch you destroy it.” Mila leaned closer, voice low and venomous. “And I’m here to watch you fall. Again.” --- Meanwhile, across the city, Ethan stood at his clinic, staring at the same tabloid photos on his computer screen. “Chloe Reed, back with a bang—Face-off with rising star Mila Lane.” He sighed. “Why is it always a war?” His phone buzzed. A message from Daniel: “Premiere shoot tonight. You coming? Mila’s the lead.” Ethan’s thumb hovered over the screen. Then a second message arrived. From Chloe. “If I fall, I’ll drag her down with me. Just thought you should know.” Ethan stared, stunned. What was she planning? --- Later that night... At the premiere shoot, Mila posed under the lights, all grace and fake sweetness. Reporters screamed her name. She was winning. And then— Chloe arrived. Wearing the original dress designed for the movie’s lead actress—the one Mila had ripped off in her version. “What is she doing here?” Mila hissed to her agent. Chloe walked up the red carpet like a queen who didn’t need a crown. “Oops. Didn’t someone say I threw this role away? Looks like it still fits.” “You’re not even in the film!” Mila snapped. “I know. But they’re talking about me anyway.” --- In the middle of it all, Ethan arrived. Eyes locked. Her lips curled into a defiant smile. His breath caught. Maybe she was chaos. But she was his chaos now.
