Chapter 7: Lights, Camera... Collision

413 Words
It was the first day of shooting for The Fall of Angels, and the set buzzed with anticipation. Chloe stepped out of her black car wearing a tailored coat, sunglasses, and a smile that could silence thunder. “Queen has arrived,” someone whispered. But Chloe wasn’t here for whispers. She was here to conquer. The director greeted her warmly, but Chloe’s eyes were already scanning the lot. And then—there she was. Mila. Golden-haired, fake-sweet, and standing right where Chloe used to be before the scandal. “Chloe,” Mila purred, strutting over. “I heard you’re back. Brave of you.” Chloe pulled off her sunglasses slowly. “I heard you got the role because I quit. How’s it feel knowing you’re everyone’s second choice?” Before Mila could answer, the crew called them in. Scene one. Tension high. Lights bright. The cameras rolled, and Mila delivered her lines. Then Chloe spoke—and the room froze. Every sentence from Chloe’s lips was fire. Controlled, sharp, stunning. Her performance silenced the whispers. Even Mila looked shaken. --- Meanwhile, across town, Ethan stood in his clinic, scrolling through his phone. A gossip headline blinked back at him: > “Chloe Reed’s Comeback—Love, War, and a Secret Fiancé?” He nearly dropped the phone. “What now?” he muttered, clicking it. There they were. Photos of their dinner. Smiles fake. Caption blazing: > ‘Dr. Ethan Walker, genius heart surgeon, secretly engaged to fallen actress Chloe Reed. Love brewed since childhood?’ He groaned. That’s when his mother burst into the clinic, practically glowing. “Darling, the world loves the story. You two are trending! Now behave like a good fiancé and support your girl!” --- That evening, the production hosted a welcome party for the cast. Chloe arrived late—intentionally. As she entered, all eyes fell on her. But one pair stood out. Ethan. Dragged there by his mother, standing by the bar, clearly annoyed. Chloe's lips twitched. “What a surprise.” “I’m leaving,” he said coldly. “No, you’re staying,” she replied. “Unless you want more photos online of us 'not getting along.’” “You set this up?” “I never said I played fair.” She leaned in, close enough for only him to hear. “You said you didn’t want me, Ethan. Let’s see how long you can resist when the entire world believes you do.”
