Diagnosis Aftermath

1128 Words
Jade was discharged from the hospital the next day. She had her thorough examination by Dr. Lamburty, the ob/gyn doctor. There was no concern for any immediate dangerous issues, but an extensive amount of scar tissue was observed. Which was just another indicative of the repetitive abuse and r**e she went through with her ex. Adam and Mitch were the ones present in the room when she had this discussion with Dr. Lamburty. The scar tissue also explained continued irritation and pain that she was having in those areas. Jade agreed to a surgery much later on down the road to attempt to remove most of the excess tissue in an effort to alleviate the pain. An orthopedic that Dr. Spencer and Adam knew came and saw Jade. A surgery had been set for her left  hand, the one with the displaced fractures, for the following week. Both hands are currently in splints, her right one will stay in a splint, which he’s checking every 2 weeks to make sure it’s continuing to heal. The same is for her left foot. An MRI showed that her tendons are stretched, so they want to brace her foot to prevent the tendons from tearing. Dr. Spencer said that her fractured vertebrae and ribs are almost completely healed, so they’re not going to put her in a brace, but she is on a specific schedule of medication for pain control. MRI’s of her abdominal area revealed scarring on her organs from repetitive blunt trauma. She’s scheduled for more imaging in a month to make sure the scar tissue isn’t increasing in growth. She also has the option to have another surgery to remove as much excess scar tissue as possible. Her calendar is full of follow ups and appointments with the variety of doctors. She’s returning to her apartment and agreed to still stay home on temporary disability so that she didn’t risk furthering the injuries. The guys argued over her what her plans were for care post-op. They didn’t like her method of stocking up on food, then staying home by herself. They argued over who’d stay with her, or where she’d stay, until Linn stepped in and dictated that Jade will stay overnight at her house. Linn had also been taking care of Jade’s financial obligations to the hospital. Jade was able to get in touch with her employer’s insurance adjuster. She was basically told to tell the hospital to send it in to her insurance when it started and see if anything will be covered. Not much of an answer in Jade’s opinion. When Jade told Linn, Linn just smiled and said okay. Jade searched Linn’s face for stress every time she came to visit, but as far as Jade could tell there has been no change in Linn’s demeanor. When Jade was discharged, all the guys wanted to be present to take her home, but it was during the time of day they needed to be sleeping. Linn once again dictated she had it handled so the men acquiesced. The guys also wanted Jade at their place, but no one could agree on whose place she should be at. Jade put her foot down, she wanted to be in her own apartment. She had carried on by herself with these injuries, there was no reason she couldn’t do so until her surgery. It was another issue they tried to argue with her but slowly relinquished victory to Jade. They did all agree that after she left Linn’s immediately after post op, they weren’t going to let her stay home after her surgery by herself while she needed help. Jade had rolled her eyes and said we’ll see how she feels. But she secretly savored their caring attention. The guys also said that they were stopping by before their shifts started to make sure she was okay. Jade smiled and said that she didn’t expect anything less of them. As soon as Jade walked through the door of her apartment, the smell of cleaner hit her nose. She turned to her friend and smiled. “I KNEW you came and cleaned. Thank you so much for that.” Jade told her. Linn just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. Jade set her duffel bag of clothes (that had been brought to her at the hospital by Linn) on her bed. She went back to the kitchen and made some coffee. Linn helped Jade get some laundry started. They ran to the store to make sure that she had some groceries for her fridge. They picked up some fast food and had a small lunch together. They chatted for a bit before Linn decided to head out and back to work. Jade gave her a friend a tight hug at the door. “Thank you for everything.” “Of course sweetie.” Linn said hugging her back. After Jade closed and locked the door after Linn, she sent off a text to the guys updating them on being home and that Linn had left. She headed to the couch for a quick nap, before the guys started showing up before their shifts started. He happened to be driving by while he was heading back to work after his lunch break, when he hit his stroke of luck. Since she was obviously not home, he had picked up the habit of driving through her apartment parking lot periodically during the day. It was one of those drive by visits that he saw her at her doorway hugging the woman he sees with her periodically. There were black things on her hands that looked like some kind of gloves. He quickly pulled in a parking spot and watched in his rearview mirror. Now that he was stopped, he could look closely. He realized his girl was wearing splints. He didn’t feel any remorse or any feeling on seeing that she was hurt, just mild curiosity at what was going on. He ducked down when the other woman walked away from the door as his girl shut it. He watched the other woman drive away, mentally making a note of what vehicle she drives. He watched his girl through her patio window. She moved through the small apartment cleaning up, she came to the couch with a glass of water, she turned the tv on, then laid down. He had an urge he almost didn’t succeed in resisting, an urge to go in there right now and claim her again. But he had to play it smart. She had to come back to him. But that doesn’t mean he won’t pay her visits to remind her who she belongs to. He drove back to work with his spirits soaring. He was already making plans for his nighttime visit.
