Adam wasn’t ready for his kiss with Jade to end.
When he saw Jake kiss her, he was only jealous of the fact that Jake got to kiss her and he hadn’t yet. He tried to tamp down all his urges, it had been a struggle for him all this time to not act on them. Finally, this morning, while he was tired, had her alone and got an eyeful of her ass, his will broke. Now that he had had her, and that she had responded in return, he was glad he gave in.
And he was done tamping his urges down.
He put his hand under her chin and tipped her face up.
She was still beet red from blushing and she looked at him with wide eyes. He smiled and started to lean down towards her for another kiss.
She pushed against his chest and easily stepped out of his embrace.
“Uhm. I-I don’t think we should do that.” She stammered.
Adam smiled as he stayed where he was at.
“Do what? Enjoy a kiss? Jade, after all you been through, I think you deserve some satisfaction in your life.” He answered.
“Uh. What about the guys? What about Jake? And-And you were mad as hell at me just now! I appreciate your apology. Really, I do. But, are you really not mad anymore?”
Adam sighed and ran his hand through his hair, he turned to find a spot on the wall to lean against.
Adam faced Jade as he thought about her question.
She’s right.
He was mad.
Then as soon as he said those harsh words, he regretted it, and his temper fizzled with his regret.
When his tongue made contact with hers, he completely forgot about his anger, what made him angry and everything that went along with it.
“You’re right I was. But like I said. As soon as I said those words, I regretted it. We care about you. We want you to heal and feel normal again.”
Jade stood there looking at the ceiling, rubbing her upper arm with one hand.
Adam pushed off the wall and reached for her.
“Come on, let’s sit with some coffee. I’m going to have the guys come over when they’re off. I think we need to all have a talk. Maybe while we wait for them, we can watch a movie or something.”
Jade nodded.
She poured some coffee from her coffee pot into a pair of mugs. Adam took them and they went over to the couch. He set them down on her coffee table then got a movie going on the tv. He picked one that would be entertaining enough, but not keep them enthralled enough from dozing off.
Adam’s intention was just that, he knew she needed more sleep so she could think more clearly. She was still strung out from whatever nightmare that woke her in the night. He ran his fingers through her hair, and just as he expected, she relaxed and laid her head in his lap.
Even after her breathing evened out as she slipped deeper into sleep he continued to massage her scalp and finger comb through her hair.
He thought of how much she had come to mean to him and the others, how far she has come, and how far she still had to go in her healing journey.
He also decided that he didn’t like her being by herself at night.
He reached for his phone and texted the group and asked them to come straight to her place when they’re off work. He set it back down and leaned back against the cushions.
His eyes drooped as he started to doze off himself.
