Adam pulled his car into Jake and Emmett’s driveway. He must’ve visited their house more frequently this week than he had in the year altogether. While Jade was staying with the two, Mitch and Adam had stopped by when they had the chance. Sometimes they would stop by during the day after they’ve slept or sometimes they’d stop by after their shifts.
Adam scanned the cars in front of the house.
Mitch’s wasn’t here, so it must mean that Jake or Emmett were at least home.
Mitch had been coming to stay at the house with Jade if both Jake and Emmett were working. His one bedroom rental house was pretty barren and minimal furniture. Mitch had what he needed, and he kept things that way. Since he didn’t have the room, nor an extra bed, he preferred to have Jade where she was comfortable and he’d stay there.
Now it was the weekend and Adam wasn’t working, so it was his turn to take Jade in. He had a spare bedroom that had been turned into an office with a futon along the wall. He planned on having Jade sleep in his bed while he slept on the couch or futon. He was lying if he didn’t feel a little nervous and excited to have her in his space.
He took a few calming breaths and got out of his car.
He leapt up the front steps, knocked a couple times on the door, and let himself in. He walked in and there was Jade sitting at the table, cross legged in the chair, doing the puzzles on the back of the newspaper.
She looked up at him over the glass she was drinking from, quickly swallowed, and greeted him with a bright, “Hey!”
Adam felt his heart swell with tenderness as he watched her untangle herself and set the pillow, she was using to support her bandaged arm, on the chair’s seat. When she came up to him to greet him with a hug, he couldn’t help himself when she started to pull away.
He squeezed her back to him and quickly lowered his head to give her the kiss he had been dying to give her this whole time.
Her lips had been parted in surprise and he took full advantage of it. He darted his tongue into her mouth and ran it across hers in brazenness. When he heard her soft moan and returned his kiss in equal intensity, he felt his d**k jump.
He brought his hands up to her hair and held her in place as he explored her mouth even further. Jade pressed herself up against him as she moaned soft sighs.
Chuckling from the side doorway made Jade jump and she started to pull away. Adam let the kiss end, but still took his time. He gave her a soft kiss on her wet lips and slowly lowered his hands from her head.
However, Jade hadn’t let go of where she was gripping him on his arm with her good hand. He was pretty satisfied to see that she had a dazed look to her eyes.
Adam turned to look at Jake in the doorway, who stood there with a s**t eating grin.
“As much as I’m sure everyone was enjoying that, I really do need you guys to wrap it up so I can get going.”
Adam laughed and greeted his friend.
Then he asked, “Where’s Jade’s bag?”
“Right there.” She said pointing to the floor by the door he just came in.
Adam was a little surprised to see how small it was.
He asked her, “Just that one?”
“Yea.”
“You sure you have everything you need in there?”
“Yup.” She answered nonchalantly.
She returned the pillow she was using back to the couch, took her glass to the sink, then went to Jake to give him a hug goodbye.
He also took the chance to kiss her breathless, albeit it had to be a short one. Giggling she stumbled a bit back across the kitchen. Scared that she’d fall, Adam reached and gripped her elbow gently to help steady her. He grabbed her bag as they walked to the door. They yelled their goodbyes as they shut the door behind them.
Chuckling, he helped her into the car.
When he got in on his side, he looked over at Jade and saw that she was beet red.
Then he just outright laughed.
******************************************
Adam opened the door to his place and let Jade go in before him. He took the opportunity to admire her from behind as he walked through after her.
He pulled out his phone and shot off a text to the group letting them know they’re back at his place. It seemed silly now that he was the one sending the text, but he knew how relieved he felt to see those texts from the others.
“The bedroom is straight ahead past the kitchen.” He told Jade, “You can set your bag in there if you want.”
Nodding, she silently went to the room he instructed. He opened up his laptop and started to take care of any emails that were urgent.
She came back out with a bit of a confused face.
“What is it?” He asked, looking up at her.
“Uhm. That’s the master bedroom.” She said.
“Yea,” he said chuckling, waiting for her to elaborate on her question.
“Uhm. I don’t mind – I mean, I like – It’s just I’m healing, and it still hurts – I feel like it’s a bit presumptuous—”
Adam suddenly realized what Jade struggled to say.
“Oh! No. I’ll sleep elsewhere. I’d rather you sleep on the bed than the futon that’s in my office.” He said laughing. “I’m sorry I didn’t elaborate. I didn’t mean to make you feel awkward or that way.”
Jade exhaled a breath.
“It’s okay. I’m the one that’s awkward, anyways.”
She went into the kitchen and started opening cupboards.
“It’s the one on the far left.” Adam supplied with a smile, knowing exactly what she was looking for, returning back to his task.
She followed his directions and opened the cupboard to the glasses. She picked one and turned to the sink, turning on the tap. She filled her glass then leaned against the counter as she took sips.
“So, what now, doc?” She said teasingly.
“I was thinking once you get hungry, we could go check out a microbrewery that opened recently. I hear they make some pretty good barbeque.”
“That sounds amazing.” She said with a sigh.
He chuckled. Jade had a fondness for coffee and meat.
He loved it.
“I think they have a coffee stout that seems to be pretty popular, too.”
Jade’s glass hit the counter hard with a loud tink.
Adam looked up startled, making sure she was okay.
Instead, she stood there looking at him with determined eyes.
“Why didn’t you say that earlier?! Let’s go!” She proclaimed.
Adam laughed.
“Alright. Hang on let me finish these emails and we’ll head out.”
“Okay! I need to change anyways. It probably wouldn’t be a wise idea to go out to eat in sweats anyways.” She said walking to the bedroom.
Chuckling again, Adam continued working through the emails he needed to address, with the smile still on his face the whole time.
