Terror in the Park

385 Words
Jade sat on a bench in a park. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She didn’t know where to go or what to do.  She had ran. She finally did it. She ran. Now she had no where to go. She had nothing but the clothes on her back. But she had ran. And got away. She stared out in the darkness feeling her heart rate skitter along as she thought she saw forms take shape in the shadows and in the dark.  She gave her head a hard shake.  It was just her imagination playing tricks on her. She hugged herself tighter, trying to gain a tighter grip on her control. She reached up to wipe her face. She took a deep breath and worked on trying to think.  She knew there were places women like her could go hide. She just didn’t know where.  She looked up and around as the wind rustled the leaves in the trees. For that matter, she didn’t know where she was at the moment, let alone where to go from here. She stopped and tried to remember and retrace her steps in her mind. If she could remember how she got here, she should be able to gain a vague idea of her general location. She wasn’t sure she could go to police. He had bragged about being close friends with all the higher ups, that no one would believe her, let alone help her. She sighed with an overwhelmed whimper.  She was so screwed.  But she needed to move fast before he found her again. As if on cue, deep chuckles echoed in the dark around the trees. Shit. She whipped her head all over trying to find source of the chuckling.  As if he stepped from thin air, he appeared in front of her.  “You will pay for running, Jade Baby.” “No!” Jade sprang up from the bench and took off.  But something was wrong. She was stiff and slow. She felt the force on her body as she was tackled and her face hit dirt, her cheek making hard contact with a rock. He got up and grabbed her ankle, then dragged her across the ground.  She kicked as hard as she could, but not once did she connect with him. She screamed but no one emerged to her rescue. She clawed at and grabbed dirt and leaves as he continued to drag her.  Scraping her back as her shirt rode up.  “No! NO! NOOOO!!---”
