The celebration echoed throughout the Crystal Kingdom long into the evening.
Music filled the streets.
Children laughed.
Lanterns of crystal light floated into the sky like countless stars.
For the first time in eighteen years...
The kingdom believed tomorrow would be brighter.
Far beyond the kingdom's borders...
Hope meant nothing.
Deep within the Black Mountains stood an ancient fortress carved into the cliffs.
Its towers pierced storm clouds, while rivers of black crystal glowed beneath the earth.
Inside the throne chamber...
A lone knight knelt before an enormous obsidian throne.
His armor was as dark as midnight, scarred by countless battles.
Across his face ran a long silver scar.
He never raised his eyes.
"The Crystal Bells have rung, my lord."
Silence answered.
"The princess has returned."
For several moments...
Nothing happened.
Then...
A hand slowly gripped the arm of the throne.
A voice, calm and terrifying, filled the chamber.
"So..."
"The prophecy lives."
The knight lowered his head even further.
"My king... shall I gather the army?"
"No."
The voice remained cold.
"If she truly is the lost princess..."
"I wish to see her with my own eyes."
The figure on the throne remained hidden beneath darkness.
Only two glowing crimson eyes could be seen.
"You will go."
The knight stood.
"As you command."
"You know what must be done."
The knight nodded once.
"If she is truly the heir..."
"I will not fail."
The crimson eyes narrowed.
"Do not underestimate her."
"The Spirit Guardian has awakened."
"The kingdom has hope once more."
"Crush that hope..."
"Before it becomes impossible."
The knight placed a fist over his heart.
"I swear it."
As he turned to leave...
A bolt of black lightning illuminated the throne room.
For a single heartbeat...
The silhouette of the mysterious king appeared.
Ancient.
Powerful.
Watching.
Waiting.
His identity remained hidden.
But one thing was certain...
The war for the Crystal Kingdom had begun.
