Under The Starry Sky

Chapter 6

***Saturday***

The last few days have gone by fast. Before I know it, it's Saturday. I wake up to Lilly jumping on my bed.

" HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLEEPY HEAD!!!! It's time to rise and shine. The omegas have made everything for breakfast. Let's go! I'm starving!"

"Okay, okay. I'm up. Give me a few minutes to get ready." I mumble still half asleep.

I stretch and slowly get out of bed. Lilly already has some clothes laid out for me to change into. I change and brush my teeth real quick. My hair looks like a disaster but there is nothing I can do to it right now.

Studying myself in the mirror, I noticed that my green eyes have changed a little. Now there is a thin blue circle outlining the green. I wonder when my eyes changed.

I yell to Lilly " Come here for a moment. Do you see a difference in my eyes?"

She looks at them " Yeah, that's weird. Maybe it's nothing but if you want you could mention it to Alpha when you meet with him later. He wants to see you after breakfast."

We head down to the dining room which is more like a buffet. Many of the pack members come here for breakfast and dinner. The whole place is decorated with birthday balloons and a banner saying ' HAPPY BIRTHDAY STELLA!!!'.

" Oh my gosh! Happy Birthday Stella. I made sure all of your favorites will be made for every meal. I hope your special day is perfect." Stacy says as she gives me a big hug.

" Thank You! Has anyone else been down yet?' I ask her as I search the room.

"Not yet. Lilly was the first one up this morning. She helped me decorate."

" Ok' I mainly asked because I know Alpha Nicholas called my parents and I was kind of hoping they would come. I haven't seen them in three years.

After we lost Mark, my mother couldn't look at me anymore. She said she doesn't blame me but I know deep down that she does. My father was my best friend growing up. I could always count on him but having to take care of my mother took over everything else.

They left not long after I moved into the pack house. All I know is that they travel. Occasionally my dad will call me to check in but otherwise I don't hear from them.

Stacy sees the worry on my face " Don't worry dearie, they will come. How could they miss their daughter's big day? If they don't come, that's on them. It's not your fault. Now go enjoy your breakfast."

I give her a weak smile and move on to the buffet. She really did make all my favorites. Belgian waffles, bacon, sausage, sunny side up eggs. There is even crepes, toast, and every flavor syrup and jam you can imagine. She has been there for me when my own mother has failed me these last three years.

I fill my plate and sit down beside Lilly.

" This food is so good. I wish it was your birthday every day." She says with a mouthful of waffle.

I laugh " If it was my birthday every day then you would be so fat from all the food. Plus I wouldn't want to get tired of my favorites."

Many pack members start coming in for breakfast. just about everyone stops to wish me a happy birthday. I think most of them are just glad training was cancelled.

When I'm all done eating, I say goodbye to Lilly and head up to Alpha Nicholas's office. His office is on the 4th floor which is the top floor. I think he did this so people who are in trouble have a chance to think about what they did before facing them. I know I have nothing to worry about. I rarely get into trouble. I keep other people in line with the rules.

I get to his door and knock.

" Come in." he says in his commanding voice

" Lilly told me that you wanted to see me, sir."

" Yes, I did." He stands up and walked around his desk. He gives me a big his and says " Happy Birthday Stella. You're the daughter I never had. I'm so proud of you. You're parents said they would be here today but I haven't heard from them yet. Have you?"

" No, sir I have not. I'll try to call them real quick."

I get out my phone and call my mother. It's rings until it finally gets to her voicemail.

" Mom didn't answer. I'll try Dad's phone." I say trying not to look worried.

I call his phone. No answer.

" That's weird. My dad usually always answers. I hope nothing bad happened. Maybe we should send out a few trackers to check their route. Just in case."

" That sounds like a good idea. I'll get a few guys on it right now." He mind links some one " It's done. I'll call you if there is any news. Are you excited to get your wolf tonight? You'll be able to mind link and won't have to use your phone as much anymore."

" I like my phone. I can ignore calls and texts whenever I want." I laugh

" Haha. Go relax. You've got a long, exciting night ahead of you and you want to be well rested. I recommend taking a nap. You'll need your energy for your first shift. See you later kiddo."

"Ok, see you tonight." I wave and head towards my room.

I'm going to take his advice. I change into some comfy clothes and lay down. My alarm is set for 3pm so I can get up and have enough time to get ready for my party. I pray to the moon goddess that everything goes as planned and my parents show up. A girl can only hope.
