The narrow hallway is dark and cold, making me feel almost claustrophobic as I follow the guard all the way to Adrian’s quarters. I can’t believe he’s asking me to come see him in his room this late at night. Isn’t it enough that I agreed to come back to his pack? Now he wants to force me to be with him? He can think again!
“In here, Miss.” The guard stretches his hand towards the door in front.
I take a deep, shaky breath, trying to steady my nerves before stepping into the room. The door clicks shut behind me, and I’m immediately swallowed by shadows. Everywhere is dark, and for a moment, I think the room is empty. But as I stand there, the air feels heavy and different.
