Sadie’s words stick with me as we enter the nymphs’ so-called “city”—which, just as before, strikes me as more of a conglomeration of teepees and earthly structures than actual buildings. But at the moment, I can’t focus on any of that. I knew Kenton had a crush on me; it was fairly obvious from the very beginning. But I assumed it was a crush based on what society believed he was supposed to do more so than him actually liking me. Is Sadie saying he did what he did because he’s got actual feelings for me? It’s almost like she’s suggesting he’s in love with me, but there’s no way. He barely even knows me.
