Commander of Wolves

When I had come over, I didn't expect that he would also be over there along with the wolves. I went towards him and joked a bit and he just rolled his eyes.

"Now that we have done joking, how about now finishing them if they attack?" I asked him.

"No problem with me." He said, and I saw a small smirk playing over his face and I also looked at the front and saw the wolves. I know that they won't get back after they have seen us, but who knows, maybe just maybe they will try to back off? I was ready with my knife and was waiting. We were all in a steady position and before they took a few steps.

They were only five in number but they all looked aggressive as if they would tear us apart. I don't really have an idea about their behavior, but I think they are aggressive because we have entered their territory. This is just my assumption and I don't know the reason for their anger or I am the only one who thinks that they are provoked.

They came in our way while their walk was slow and was full of mystery. I can't describe what they were thinking and I know that I can't tell because I haven't done any kind of degree in reading animals' nature. I took a step back.

"What is wrong with you now?" Prashant asked me and I looked at him confused.

"What?"

"Why are you stepping back?" My mouth got locked because I didn't know what to tell him. "Are you afraid?"

"Do you think that I can be afraid after so much going through?"

"No, not at all."

"Then be patient and see what is going to happen next." I said, and the next moment the wolf who was in the front came out and came directly in my way.

"Watch out." Prashant said and I dodged him and he went quite far and I looked at him.

"Want to have a fight with me? I am so ready for this." I said and smirked and the next moment he jumped from his spot and threw himself in my way and I again dodged him and maybe that had made him angrier than he was already and I knew that this time if I dodged then maybe it could make him. Now I have an attack as well.

He again came in my way and this time I kept my knife back and he came. We were both on the ground. I was on the bottom while I was stopping his claws from slicing me.

"Why have you put back your knife?" I looked at Prashant.

"Because I don't want to kill him. You know that my knife is sharp and does more extraordinary than what a normal one does. That is why I decided to keep it back. I don't want to kill him."

"What is wrong with this time that you have decided this?"

"I have already killed many of the giants and that monster, but I want to have a peaceful fight once and that too, without anyone killing in the end."

"Such a change of heart. Strange. Watch out."

"Are you going to stand over there and do nothing?"

"That is correct." I looked at the wolves. I had really forgotten about this and I gathered all the force and pushed him away and I stood up and he was down for a few seconds and before, he also stood up.

"I have seen this kind of scene only in the movies. This is my first time that I have seen something like this for the first time." I heard him.

"This is also my first time and I am the one taking the action."

"Is that so?" The wolf started to come towards me but in a blink he was pushed and the wolf got hit by the trunk of the tree and I looked at him. He was crossing his hands over his chest. "How was that?"

"Fantastic. Now you can control your power."

"Yeah I can." He said and I went towards the wolf and checked him and he was still alive.

"He is alive. We should now leave."

"What about the rest?" He said and I looked back and saw the rest, but none of them were really looking, looking like they would come and attack us.

"I don't think that they will attack us. I guess he was their leader and seeing that their leader was down they didn't want to make a move." I stood up while they all sat down as if they were bowing to us, and I looked at Prashant and he was as confused as I was.

"Are they bowing to us?"

"I don't know."

"If that is true then..." I stretched my arms and smirked.

“What is going on in your mind?”

“I have never ridden an animal. I want to have a ride in one of them.”

“Is it this time for you to have fun?”

“Then when are you thinking of having fun? This whole adventure is fun and true, the fun which you are indicating is a peaceful one yet dangerous.” He didn’t say anything and started to move towards them.

“What if they attacked you? We aren’t sure that they really have surrendered themselves to us.”

“Hmm…then we should see if they have really surrendered themselves or not.”

“Wai-Wait.” He hesitated but despite him being warned by me, I moved forward and touched one of them and he leaned on my touch and a smile came over my face. I always wanted to have a dog but my mother never liked to have one. She would always taunt me whenever I mentioned it to her, but when I saw what kind of responsibility came with it, I decided that I would have one when I thought that I am ready and his being leaning on my touch makes my heart warm and makes me yearn for a pet in my house. How do I wish that I could take him back with me?

“Don’t you even think something like that?” I looked at him confused. I saw that he was also patting one of the wolves. “Your face was talking about your thoughts. Weren’t you thinking about bringing one back with you?” I rubbed the back of my neck.

“I do.”

“They won’t be able to be with you. This is their habit and they had better be over here only.”

“That I also know.”

“But your desire won’t.” I looked in front. They have surrendered to us easily. I looked at the leader whom Prashant had hurt.

“There is a pulse in him, so he won’t die easily, but he will need time to heal.”

“Won’t you treat him?”

“His injury isn’t outside, so I can’t help it, it must be internal.” I looked at him and, except pity, none of the emotion was emerging within me. He was the most aggressive one among us and I think he got what he deserved. I sat on the wolf's back.

“You didn’t even wait for a second,” Prashant said.

“I so badly want to ride him.”

“Would he listen to your command?’

“That I will only know. Though he didn’t make me fall, I think that he will definitely listen to me.”

“You are looking confident.”

“Don’t you want to ride?” He also gave me the answer by getting on one of them.

“If this is the chance, then I would definitely take it.” I smiled and, without giving me any command, they started to run.

“I guess they have already made up their minds,” I said.

“I also think that only.” It was superb. I have never felt this much joy in my life. The wind was fast and it was like it was throwing itself in my way. It was adventurous and fun. I also feel like that of the prince whom I used to see on TV when I was a child. I always had the desire to ride horses, but if this isn’t a horse, then what? I am a brother and I remember that my brother had told me that one day he would definitely take me for a ride, but there isn’t any day more like that. He will never come back.

“What is wrong?” I shook my head.

“Nothing.”

“Then why are you crying?” I wiped away my tears and shook my head again.

“I am just so happy to have this moment and nothing else.” He didn’t say anything further. I looked back and saw the rest of them were also following us. This is all looking and making me feel that I am in a dream from which I don’t want to wake up. If I woke up, then I would be afraid that I would be able to have the same dream again.

We reached somewhere where the trees were in the distance and the ground had some space and there was also barred land which was present in a small area. Then I looked at my left side and saw that we were running near the cliff and from the cliff I could see some green mountains and the sun shining. There was also snow somewhere.

“There is snow as well,” I said, and Prashant looked where I was looking.

“Strange, it is so warm here and there is snow over there.”

“This forest is full of mystery.”

“No doubt.” We had crossed the cliff and I enjoyed it so much. I think that it was enough for me, but the other part of me was getting greedy for more and I let the other part rule, but suddenly my wolf stopped abruptly and when I looked ahead, I just saw white fog, it wasn’t thick, so I could see something black like a rod in front of me. I couldn’t understand why they weren’t moving forward. “What is wrong with them?”

“I don’t know but how they have stopped. I think that they can’t move forward.” I went down and patted him and started to move forward, but he held over my clothes and shook his head and that made me realize that they were scared of going forward. I didn’t go forward but looked at Prashant.

“What must be ahead that is making them so afraid to go forward and is also stopping them from going?”

“I don’t have any idea.”

“I didn’t even ask you because I know that you don’t know.” I rolled my eyes. I patted him. If they are so scared, then why have they come over here and also bring us over here? I heard a faint voice.

Let him go

“Who is there?”

“What is wrong?” He asked.

“I heard someone saying ‘Let him go’” After that, the wolf also left my clothes and I looked at him weirdly.

Now go back

After I heard that, they had also gone back and I looked at Prashant.

“Why are they going back?”

“Because someone had commanded them to go back.”

“What are you trying to say?”

“I also don’t know, but there was a voice which had commanded them to leave me and also to go back, which you couldn’t hear because it was faint yet clear.” He was confused.

“Alright, I don’t want to be in this confusion only. How about going further now that they have gone back? I am curious to know about what they were afraid of?” I nodded and we went forward, but my mind wasn’t getting off from that voice. That voice sounded of an old person, but he was active and healthy and with his normal voice he could command those wolves. If I couldn’t hear that voice, then I would also be in confusion about why they had returned just like that. These wolves must be under someone’s command.
