Deity Knife

“Wake up Shaurya.” I heard a voice which was reaching for me, but I couldn’t recognize the voice and even what that person was saying was unclear to me. For a few moments, I kept hearing those words and getting confused all over until they slowly started to make sense.

“Wake up.” I heard again, but I was feeling so too tired to wake up, then I felt a shake inside me which forced my senses to wake me up, and then I started to open my eyes and saw a bright sun shining in the sky. It is really beautiful. Where am I? These three words were the only ones which popped into my mind first.

Then I remembered that a big wave in the river swept us away and I had almost died. Am I alive or not? The sun is so bright over here and warmness is also present. So is this heaven? I quickly sat and looked around and saw Prashant. For a moment, I was shocked to see him there before I spoke to him.

“You have also come from heaven?” I asked him and he was like ‘what the hell is wrong with you?’ and this was written clearly on his face, which made me feel that I had again made a slip of tongue.

“After being unconscious for too long, have you lost your mind or are you still sleeping? Or that part, which is called the brain, is filled by the water.” I looked around and found that we were surrounded by the forest and it didn't meet my imagination of heaven. Soon enough, I got the familiarity with that forest to make me realize that I am alive.

“That means we are not dead,” I said in an excited tone.

“Yeah, we are not dead.”

“But how were we saved?”

“When I opened my eyes, we were already on the shore and it took me about two hours to wake you up.”

“Why is it like that you are the most active one, and that too, more than me? Even on the net, you were awake before me and now also.”

“That is because I was unconscious before you, because this time I have saved myself from getting more water inside me, which almost made me breathless and to get closer to death. But thanks to god that we are both saved. ”

“You really are smart.” He looked away and I recalled everything that had happened and when my thought went on and landed on the knife I quickly checked for it and took a sigh of relief because it was there only. Thank God that it is still here.

“Now we are stuck over here. Just great.” He said, already looking irritated with the situation, but most of the time he didn’t really show which emotion was running inside him. He, like always, tries to hide it, but today was different, he had actually shown an emotion, though it wasn't for long. This I come to know about with the time I have spent with him and that must be only a few hours, but yet I come to know that he is someone who doesn’t lose his cool that easily but calms his mind at first and tries to find the solution first, but right now he let his cool be off for few seconds. I stood up and looked for my bag but I couldn’t find it. I guess it was washed away in the waves. It didn’t have so many important things. What is important to me right now is with me, but it was still my favorite one. I started to walk away in the opposite direction from where Prashant was.

“Where are you going?”

“I am going to invite new trouble.”

“That is what it is looking like.” I rolled my eyes. I can’t even tell how many times I have rolled my eyes today. I looked at the sky and saw that it was going to be night soon enough. I didn't realize that I had been unconscious for so long that it was already going to be night and now I also wanted to have something to eat.

“We have to move forward and have to look for a way,” I said to him. “It is also going to be night and I am starving and also have to find a place where we can sleep tonight.” I told him and he looked back.

I guess he doesn’t really want to help me with this. No problem. I will move forward and will find the food for myself.

“Do you really think that we can really have something over here?” I heard his question. The voice was low and I looked back and saw the distance between us, so it was natural that his voice was dim.

“I don’t know, but why can’t we just give it a chance? Maybe we can definitely find something. My mother says that if we are in trouble, then there is a way to come out of there, even if it seems that there is no way but there is a way which is waiting for us to find it.”

“Your mother?” The tone in which he had said made it seem like the mother word was a foreign word for him which he had never heard.

“Yeah, isn’t it normal to have parents in our lives?” I asked him, then I realized that I had asked the dumbest question.

“It is." I was surprised that he had actually answered that dumb question. I thought that he was going to shout at me. "I am also coming with you.” He later added. I waited for him until he reached me. “I do have to say this, that for a wise woman like your mother, you sure are a talkative son for her.”

“Is that a compliment or an insult?” He chuckled a bit and, for the first time, I had seen him laughing after our meeting. I thought that he was a person who hardly shows his feelings, but I guess I was wrong. After all, we both must be only nineteen or twenty. I think that only.

“However you like to take that.” He started to walk away while leaving me behind.

“Just clear that out.” I said while chasing him and reaching him.

“Just sort it out by yourself.” He said and I didn’t say any further. I guess this adventure is kind of fun because I am having someone with me. I won't be alone over here at least. “What are you thinking?” I heard his voice, which stopped my train of thoughts. I looked at him and gave him a smile.

“Nothing much.”

"Don't give me that look." Though he had said to me that, then I didn't also stop smiling. “Look over there, there are fruits on the tree.” He pointed towards a tree and I followed his direction and saw the tree. It was the kind of tree which I usually used to climb when I was small.

“You just wait over here; I will get them.”

“You know how to climb a tree?” His voice was calm yet filled with surprise.

“Of course, when I was small, my family used to live in a village, there only I learnt this. After so many years, I am going to climb one. I am quite nervous about this."

“I am nervous about something else.” I looked at him.

“And is it?”

“This place is a problem, even the wind can be poisoned over here. So be careful of your actions.”

“Aren’t you stretching this?”

“I don’t think like that, didn’t you see that the pond above which we were hanging had a crocodile and this knife and sheath has a giant owner….” Before he could have gone further with his explanation, I cut him off in the middle.

“Stop, stop. I got it, that this place is dangerous and anything could happen in the next moment. I got it, my lord.”

“You got the point, now proceed further.” I nodded and I started to climb the tree and reached one of the branches and looked down and Prashant was looking like one of my fingers. I chuckled a bit.

“What is so funny above?” He asked.

“Nothing.”

“You are so unreasonable.”

“Thanks for the compliment,” I said and he shook his head and I looked around and saw fruits which were looking delicious to me. “Prashant, I am going to cut some of the fruits, catch them.” I said and took out the knife from its sheath and with one streak, few of the fruits fell on the ground and I was speechless. I didn’t think that it was so powerful that it could cut a few fruits in one streak only.

“I guess it is enough for us and we don’t have anything to store these.” That is correct. I guess both of our bags have been washed away in the waves.

He started to collect the fruit and I also decided that I should also get down.

“So you are the one who is carrying the giant’s knife.” I heard a voice from my behind and that was so close to me that it sent chills inside me.

“Shaurya!!” He said in a worried yet calm tone which made me believe that whatsoever is behind me is dangerous. I looked behind slowly and saw a smiling snake and that terrified me to the core that I almost lost my balance.

“Don’t be afraid, I won’t do anything to you. I am just hungry, so without any harm I will gulp you down after I retrieve the deity knife.” I looked at him confused.

“I don’t have that knife.” I defended myself quickly.

“You have that knife and sure know how to use it.” He insisted, which terrified me as well as annoyed me.

“What is there to know? A knife is a knife and can be used however you like." I replied to his question c*m statement.

“You don’t have to know anything other than that you are my food tonight.” I gulped and decided to make an exit soon enough. I decided to jump but seeing the height I guess I would surely hurt myself, but nevertheless, I decided to jump.

“Whatever you are thinking about doing will not be possible, kid.” I looked at him and smirked. He had caught my movement already and also knows the result, but that can't stop me from doing what I am thinking.

“If it is not possible, then I will make it possible, but today, I am sorry to say this, you are going to starve.” I said and jumped down the tree. While coming down, I took action and stabbed the knife inside the trunk of the tree and for a few seconds I was held over it.

“Be careful.” I heard Prashant saying. I looked at him and smirked.

“What? Are you worrying about me?’ I asked him and it was his turn to roll his eyes. I chuckled a bit.

“You are chuckling in this situation.”

“Then what am I supposed to do? Cry?” He again rolled his eyes.

“Today you can’t get away that easily.” I saw that snake which was coming towards me. “By looking at you my hunger is getting stronger.” Without me knowing, I felt that I was slowly getting towards the earth. It was a slow movement. “No, no this shouldn’t be happening.” He said, and by the voice which he had used, I can say that whatever is going to happen shouldn’t be occurring in the first place. Soon enough, my falling towards the ground was fast by the time I landed on the earth. I landed safely on the ground and was about to take out the knife when I heard his voice again. “Don’t take it out.” He shouted, but I did otherwise and took out the knife and looked at Prashant and he was well aware of my action and that what we did we ran away from there and at the short distance only I heard something falling down which created the a small amount of earthquake on the ground. When I looked behind, I saw that the tree was cut in perfect half. So does this knife do that?

“I am sorry Mr. Snake.” I said to myself, and we ran away further from there and after we thought that we were far away from there, we stopped to catch over our breath.

“This knife is really powerful.” He complimented it.

“I know that. That Mr. Snake was saying that this is a deity knife.”

“I guess that is why it was able to cut down the net.” I looked at him and nodded.

“You are not going to get away just like that. Today by eating you, but by bit, I can get my revenge for destroying my home. Firstly, you invade my home and then cut it down in half.” We have just got some rest and now here we go again. We started to run but while we were running a shadow came above me and I prepared myself with the knife and he attacked me.

“Shaurya!!!” I heard Prashant's voice and I smirked. I pierced the knife in his throat and then I heard the loud noise of pain and I did that for quite more time and then that snake scattered in the pieces just like those crocodiles did.

“Thank God that you are alright.”

“This all happened because of this knife only,” I said, and he nodded. Today we have come across so many hurdles and that has already made me exhausted to the core. I fell on the ground due to exhaustion

“Here I have something.” He handed me a fruit. “I couldn’t pick more.” He added.

“That is alright.” After eating the fruit, we found a cave where we sat down and decided to sleep there only for the night.
