CHAPTER THIRTEENThe king addressed his new recruits. “Now that you have been assessed, I must inform you of your new role. You will be our new palace guards and you will be vigilant around the Avadierish. It seems that our security forces have become compromised.
“We know this because it was the Phoenix Princess—not the security forces—who brought our attention to the Avadierish soldiers disguised as visiting dignitaries.”
Every eye in the room landed on Lumina. The soldiers regarded her with respect. She was certain that not one of them would underestimate her; but did her father still think she was happy to let him rule for his entire life?
“This is the reason she is involved in your recruitment. I trust her judgement and, after this revelation, I trust her.”
