Their conversation ended in agreement. Both Veronica and Javier understood each other’s goals and ambitions. Veronica made a bold move in her life, but for the last time, she chose to trust again. She entrusted her face to Javier. She hoped that this time, God wouldn’t deny her. Javier invited her to dinner, and she realized she was hungry. He led her to the dining area. Once again, she was impressed. She felt like a princess in a distant, grand palace. The Villa had a vintage feel. She still couldn’t believe that it had once been uninhabited. The wealthy truly lived differently. She saw Jordan and Nick waiting for them at the dining table. “Good thing you’re done talking. We thought you wouldn’t finish until tomorrow. We’re starving. We were just waiting for you,” Jordan said as he clutched his growling stomach. She remembered what Javier had confided in her and looked at him. “Are they werewolves too?” she asked. She could clearly see the shocked expressions on both men’s faces. Jordan gave Javier a questioning look. “You told her? Why?” He had many questions running through his mind. Javier remained completely relaxed. “I didn’t see any reason not to tell her. Don’t worry, Jordan. Veronica won’t reveal our existence to anyone.” She could clearly see the disapproval on Nick and Jordan’s faces. “You’ve done everything for that woman, Javier. You saved her from danger, paid her hospital bills, and now you want to help fix her face. And now, you’ve even told her our secret? You’re putting too much trust in that human! What do you gain from going this far, Javier?” Veronica understood Jordan and Nick's fears. If she were a werewolf and knew that a human was aware of their existence, she’d probably be worried about their safety too. It was a natural reaction. But she decided to let Javier explain what had happened. Javier sighed, looking exhausted from the draining day. “I assure you, Jordan, Veronica won’t spread what she’s learned. She’s not stupid enough to betray us. She knows what it feels like to be trusted and then stabbed in the back. If she ever thought of betraying us, she knows that not only would no one believe her, but she’d also have the entire Black Moon Pack against her. I’m sure she’s not foolish enough to do that.” She knew what Javier said was true. If she did betray them, no one would believe her. People would think she was crazy. On top of that, she’d be exposing herself to the Fuentebella family. Javier was right; she’d be up against the entire pack. And she was certain she wouldn’t survive. What did she know about fighting? Jordan’s expression softened slightly, but concern was still evident. He looked at her with irritation. “I understand what you mean, Javier. But what’s the reason for telling her our secret?” "Because she deserves our honesty. She trusted us and shared her life story with me. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't tell her the truth. Besides, her killer is none other than her own husband. And you know what's funny? Her husband is none other than Angelo Fuentebella. She saw Angelo in his shifted form, so there's no reason to keep the truth from her. She knows we truly exist," Javier explained. Jordan's face was a picture of disbelief. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. "What? Veronica's husband is that demon, Angelo Fuentebella? And he's her killer? Why did he marry a human and then plan to kill his own wife?" "That’s what we still need to figure out. We have to uncover the root of the problem," Javier replied. "Sorry to interrupt, but Javier, Veronica, could this be fate?" the elderly driver chimed in, astonished. "The same man wronged both of you. Maybe fate brought you together." Jordan scoffed, while Javier smiled. "I think you're right, Nick. Fate brought us together. And now, we'll join forces to bring down Angelo Fuentebella and his entire family." Everyone fell silent, absorbing Javier's words. Nick cleared his throat to change the subject. "Dinner’s been ready for a while. We were just waiting for you. Let's eat before the food gets cold." She was taken aback when Javier pulled out a chair for her. She couldn't remember Angelo ever doing that for her. They followed and sat down at the dining table. She saw the delicious dishes laid out before them, from appetizers to meats, and even dessert. But she quickly realized that these were werewolves, and she had no idea what they ate! What if the meat in front of her was human flesh? The thought made her want to vomit. Javier noticed her reaction and paused. “Oh, what’s wrong? Don’t you like the food we prepared? Are you allergic to something?” She was starving and wanted to fill her stomach, so she didn’t hesitate to ask, “Javier, can I eat that? I mean, is it edible for humans? Because you’re all werewolves, right…” To her surprise, the three men burst into laughter, holding their stomachs as they laughed. She was annoyed. “What’s so funny?” Javier wiped a tear from his eye, still chuckling. “Sorry, you’re just funny. Of course, it’s edible. And no, it’s not human meat. We don’t do that. I told you, we live and behave like humans. It’s safe, don’t worry.” She felt somewhat reassured. But then Jordan asked, “So… what’s the plan?” “I’ll do her surgery tomorrow. And she will use Beatrice’s face,” Javier replied casually, causing the jaws of the two men in front of them to drop.
