2: Outcast Bride

1660 Words
After Angelo and Veronica’s wedding, the Fuentebella family and their extended relatives gathered at their residence. Maria and Anne's faces were filled with overwhelming anger. "I can't fathom what kind of f*****g food that Veronica served my son, let alone understand why he decided to marry her!" Maria Fuentebella expressed her anger in front of the whole family. She couldn't stay in one place, constantly moving back and forth. Anne's eyes narrowed. “Perhaps she’s blackmailing my brother, preventing him from acting against Veronica. That woman is always causing trouble. If she believes her life will be a paradise, well, she's mistaken! She entered a nightmare!” Some other family members were concerned. "Eugene, Maria, I can't help but feel worried about what happened. We tried our best to act happy earlier. What was the reason behind Angelo and Veronica's marriage? It's clear that she is a human being. Veronica won’t bring any good to our family. To our pack. I wonder how the Alpha will react when he discovers that Angelo has married a human?” “Yes, that's right. And that's not the only thing that concerns us. What if she discovers our secret? Imagine if she were to reveal the existence of beings like us…” An old woman asked with a hint of fear in her voice. Maria tightened her grip, her emotions running high. She also had no idea what thoughts were going through her foolish son's mind. Out of all the women in the Midnight Fall Pack, what made him choose Veronica? A good-for-nothing worthless and weak human? “What was the reason behind Angelo's decision to marry that human?” They all turned when Maria and Eugene's second son, Allen, let out a loud sigh. “Why are you all so surprised that Angelo married Veronica? Isn’t the answer obvious? He loves Veronica, that's why he married her even though she's a human. I’m sure you are not dumb enough not to understand that Veronica is my brother’s fated mate. So simple,” Allen casually chimed into the conversation. Maria's eyes widened, she couldn’t accept that explanation. “Are you kidding me? Love? Hah! That's foolishness! He doesn’t love that weak human, and he will never love a human! Bear that in your mind, Allen. Your brother is not like that!” “Maria, Eugene, Angelo is obviously breaking the rules of our pack. Angelo will be in big trouble if everyone finds out the truth that his wife is a human. So as much as possible, don't let Angelo’s wife set foot in this place. Because your son might be in danger,” An old male relative warned them. “Alright, no one should know about this news. It should only remain between Fuentebellas. I really don't want my son to be in any kind of danger, do you all understand?” Angelo’s father said in a loud serious voice that echoed in the living area. Everyone nodded in agreement. Unbeknownst to humans, werewolves like them exist. If one were only going to talk about physical appearance, oh, for sure it's impossible to distinguish them from humans. Their physical appearance, language, and behavior are just like those of humans. However, during the full moon, their kind transforms into werewolves. They don’t really consider humans as a threat to their kind, and the truth is, they interact with them every day. However, no humans should know their secret, because they need to kill them in order to protect themselves. They grew up in the city, where they became aware of the world. Valle Verde City, the capital city of the country, is home to millions of people. There are only two packs that reside in this city. They belong to the Midnight Fall Pack, considered the natives of Valle Verde. Their ancestors were the first pack to come to the city. But then, as time goes by and went through phases of modernization, another pack decided to live in the city. It is the Black Moon Pack. That pack looks so strong and they’re very private, rarely engaging with others of their kind. There are whispers of their considerable wealth. Billionaires, businessmen, and villa owners. Not only that, according to the gossip they've heard, the Black Moon Pack is powerful. They are strong and not someone you would want to cross. Similar to humans, they too lead lives resembling those of people. Without their keen sense of smell, it would be impossible to distinguish them as werewolves, as they exhibit no discernible differences from regular humans in their appearance, actions, and behavior. “What if Veronica knows our secret? That we are not humans? But she still accepted Angelo? Maybe Allen is right, Veronica might be your son’s mate,” Maria's eyes burned with fury. With a sudden movement, she delivered a forceful slap to her sister. The poor woman was taken aback. "What the heck? Why did you slap me? Are you out of your mind?!" "Look, I don’t effin’ care if you’re my sister. If you dare utter those words again, you'll face more than one slap. You’re so stupid! Veronica will never be my son's mate, that's for sure! Angelo deserves a mate who is rich and strong mate, not a worthless human. Use your common sense, my dear sister. I’m sure if that useless woman learns about our secret, it will be our end. She will surely spread the word!” “The Alpha must be informed of this situation. He's the only one who can help your son,” "You're all concerned about something nonsense. Veronica is not that kind of woman. Even if she discovers our secret, she will keep it to herself. She's a respectable woman. And the way everyone is responding, it's as if Angelo is deeply involved in the pack. He doesn't even hold a prestigious position, definitely not a beta. Or even a delta. We're just an ordinary family in the Midnight Fall pack. Many of us are simply Sentinels. Don't be overly dramatic. You're all so paranoid," Allen said with annoyance, shoving his hands into his pants pockets and looking so bored in their conversation. Maria and Eugene clenched their jaws in frustration, deeply wounded by their son's hurtful words. The Fuentebella couple had high ambitions. Throughout the years, their family continued to live as commoner people. Yes, they were not poor, but they wanted to be rich. They wanted to become millionaires. They wanted to have businesses. They yearned for a sense of dominance. They wanted to be looked up to and respected in the Midnight Fall Pack, even by the worthless wealthy humans. They were consumed by a relentless desire for attention and wealth, willing to go to any lengths to achieve their ambitions. The same goes for their rank in their pack. Even though they weren't omegas, they were determined to break free from their role as Sentinels. They had aspirations of climbing the ranks. To have an authority. They dreamed of Angelo becoming the pack’s Beta because once that happened, it would be easy for him to attain the Alpha position. They were also convinced that their son would become the first millionaire in their family. Angelo was their ticket to fortune. That's why their disappointment and anger ran deep when he chose to marry a worthless human. They just can’t understand, and they just can’t accept it. "Stop it! Keep this secret from the Alpha! Allow us to take care of this situation. I'm sure Angelo must have a valid justification for his actions. Let's give him our trust," Maria attempted to soothe herself. Eugene slammed his hand down on the glass table, instantly capturing the attention of everyone in the room. "You heard my wife," he said. “Keep it a secret from the Alpha! If you don't comply, you may not be pleased with the consequences. Are we on the same page?!" Everyone agreed. "We get it." Anne let out an exasperated sigh, clearly irritated and tired. “Great. Okay, it's time to take a break now. This is a long day,” One by one, their relatives left. Allen also stood up and was about to follow everyone when his mother noticed him. “And where are you going, Allen?” "I'll be spending the night at a friend's place. I'm tired of being stuck in this place. You guys are stressful to be around. Do you know how toxic you are?” he responded with irritation, questioning his family. The old woman's eyes narrowed, and Eugene was irritated by his demeanor. "You're not being very polite to your mother, Allen. Why does it seem like you're taking Veronica's side? What is this nonsense?" Eugene demanded, his voice filled with anger. “Father’s right, Allen! You’re always defending that troublesome human! She’s not right for Angelo!” Anne shouted at the top of her lungs. Allen just shrugged. He didn’t care if his family got angry with him. He wasn’t blind to their bad behavior. He continued walking out of the house. “And who’s good for him? You? Mom? No one will be good enough for Angelo in this family’s eyes,” Eugene was about to chase after his son, but Maria stopped him. “Let Allen be. He won’t be able to go against us anyway.” Anne’s face filled with worry again. “What are we going to do now, mama? Angelo and Veronica are now married.” The old woman’s eyes sharpened as an idea formed in her mind. She grinned and looked at her husband and daughter. “What do you do when there’s an obstacle? You remove it from your path, am I right?” “W-What do you mean, mama?” A devilish smile appeared on Maria Fuentebella's face. “It’s simple. We will kill Veronica. We’re going to remove that worthless human in our lives.”
