"Dad, thank you so much for covering for me earlier. I didn’t expect you’d go along with it and pretend you didn’t know about my plan," Javier said once he and his father were alone on the balcony of his room.
There they were, drinking coffee on a chilly night. The exhausting day had come to an end, his mother was already asleep in the guest room, and Veronica was probably resting too. His father looked at him with a puzzled expression. "What do you mean?" he asked, confused.
"Didn't you already know about the plan Veronica and I had?"
"You didn’t tell me anything specific. All I know is that you mentioned helping a human woman because of the horrific treatment she suffered at the hands of her husband. You also told me she'd need plastic surgery," his father replied.
Javier nodded. "That’s exactly what I’m referring to, Dad. Thank you for covering for me earlier, because you knew, but Mom didn’t. If she finds out, she’ll be upset."
"It’s true that you told me you were helping a human, and I even encouraged you to go ahead with the surgery. But never in my wildest dreams did I think you’d give her Beatrice’s face! What were you thinking, giving her your Luna's face?" His father’s voice was firm, though he kept it low to avoid being overheard.
"Didn’t I mention that part to you, Dad? Well, I thought it was the right decision. We have the same enemy, and Angelo deserves to pay for all the wrong he’s done. We wouldn’t be able to move properly if she kept her old face," Javier reasoned.
To be honest, Joseph Romanov understood it well. He wasn’t foolish; he knew that what his son did was a clever move. No one would ever suspect that the human woman wasn’t actually Beatrice.
"But still, what you're doing is dangerous. I’ve told you several times that Angelo's situation has changed. They're not to be taken lightly anymore. They’ve gained more power. And besides, how did Veronica lose her human scent?"
Javier smiled. "It’s because of Eldara. We went to her, and she helped us get rid of Veronica’s human scent and replaced it with ours."
Joseph was impressed. The plan the two had come up with was extraordinary and well thought out. But, of course, as a father, he couldn’t shake off the worry. That was only natural.
"You’re grown now, Javier. I know you’re aware of what you're doing. You’re an Alpha, and I trust you’ve thought everything through. If you ever need help, don’t hesitate to ask your mother and me. Anyway, what’s your plan now?"
Javier looked out over the vast land in front of him, taking in the peace of the place. "Tomorrow’s going to be a long day, Dad. I’m introducing Veronica to the Black Moon Pack."
Joseph felt a wave of anxiety. "Introducing her as what?"
"No one will know that she’s not really Luna Beatrice. It’s a secret only we know. What I mean is, starting tomorrow, Veronica will be free to walk among our pack. I’m certain everyone will be happy to see their Luna again. No one will question why she’s been gone for years," Javier answered with complete confidence.
A sticky bead of sweat trickled down Joseph's forehead. "Let’s say no one suspects she’s not Beatrice. Well, from head to toe, she truly looks like Beatrice. Is she using contact lenses? Even your wife’s eyes are identical. But the question is, Beatrice knows a lot of people in the pack and in the business world. What if someone suddenly talks to her, and she doesn’t recognize them?" The old man’s mind was filled with questions.
"You don’t need to worry about that, Dad. I’ve already thought of it. I made sure Veronica knows everyone in the Black Moon Pack. I showed her pictures, reviewed names, and their relationships with her. Besides, Lucy trained her hard. Let’s just trust her," Javier said confidently.
Seeing the expression on his son’s face, it was clear that Javier was determined about the plan and had strong faith in Veronica.
Joseph patted his son’s shoulder. "Alright, I’ll go check on your mother in the guest room. She might be looking for me. I wish you and Veronica good luck. I hope your plan succeeds," Joseph said sincerely.
Javier smiled at his father’s words. "Thank you, Dad."
"You should get some rest, too. As you said, tomorrow’s going to be a long day."
His father left the balcony, leaving Javier alone. He downed the remaining contents of his mug, finishing off the now cold coffee. His legs seemed to move on their own as he made his way to the room where Veronica was.
After his parents left, it was time for him and Veronica to share a room. He didn’t want the housemaids to get suspicious, and it was also for their safety. They couldn’t predict what might happen in the future, so they needed to start pretending and living together as soon as possible. He believed Veronica was open-minded about it, especially since he had no intention of doing anything harmful to her. The master’s bedroom was spacious enough, and he could always set up another bed in there.
It wasn’t necessary for them to share the same bed. As long as they were in the same room, he figured they’d be safe.
He found himself standing outside the room where the woman was now sleeping. He knocked. It took three knocks before she finally opened the door.
Her face clearly showed signs of exhaustion and sleepiness. “Yes, Javier?”
“Are you ready for tomorrow? I’ll introduce you to everyone. This is the beginning of our revenge,” he asked seriously.
The drowsiness on her face vanished, replaced by a cold expression. Her face was unreadable. “I’m more than ready, Javier. I’m ready to become Beatrice Romanov. And by tomorrow morning, our revenge begins.”
The future that awaits Veronica and Javier is filled with danger and unexpected challenges. This marks the beginning of their revenge, but it comes with many questions—can they keep their secret hidden from the Black Moon Pack? Veronica is ready to assume Beatrice's identity, but this deception carries its own risks, especially since many people know Beatrice, not only within the pack but also in the business world.
