Chapter 1, New year

“Blossom, it’s time for school, time to get up”, dad said, while in the doorway. “Ugh, nooo. Can't I go back next year? I am not ready for this”, she said, pulling the blanket up over her head. “No, you have to go back this year. We don't want you to fall behind”, dad said, crossing his arms over his chest. “Fine, I guess I will go”, she said. Blossom got up and out of bed. She walks over to her closet and gets some clothes out. While dad was waiting for Blossom to get downstairs, he made her breakfast.

She came downstairs as loudly as she could. “Here is your breakfast”, dad said, giving her the plate. “Thanks”, Blossom said, pulling out a chair and starting to eat it all. When she was done with her food, she put the plate in the sink and went to wait for the bus. When it finally came, she got on. “Good morning”, the bus driver said. Blossom did not say anything to him. She just got on and sat by a window by herself. When the bus pulled away from the house, there was a car sitting across the street. I thought I saw someone sitting in it. I could not do anything since I was already on the bus.

When I got to school, I just went to my classroom. Some of the kids said “hi” or “sorry for your loss”. I just wish they had forgotten about it already. So the first class was beginning. They were writing a paper the teacher gave to us. But then the classroom phone rang. I could only hear the teacher talking. The teacher said, “Good morning. Yes, she is here. I will send her down”. Then she hung up the phone.

She turned back to the class and said, “Blossom, the office wants to see you”. “Ok”, I said. I got all my stuff gathered up and went out the door. To the office down the hall. When I walked in, the lady at the front desk asked me, “Yes, can I help you”. “Yes, I am Blossom. I was called down just a few minutes ago”, I said, looking at her. “Oh yes, they are waiting for you already, you can go right in”, the lady said. “Thanks”, I said, walking to the other door that leads to the principal’s office. I knocked on the door and waited for someone to say come in. When I did hear him say “Come in”, I pushed the door open. When I walked in, I could see a girl sitting in a chair in front of the principal.

She had blond hair with green eyes. She was wearing a nice sundress. “Hello, Blossom, I have called you down here because this girl named Eva is new to the school. And she is also related to you. I know you do not know about this so I thought it would be a good idea to let you hear it from her”, he said, motioning to Eva. I looked at the girl and she gave me a nice warm smile.

She took a breath and was looking right into my eyes. “You have no idea how long I have been waiting to meet you. And I am sorry it is not on good terms, but I thought it was time we met. I am yours”...
