CHAPTER 2: THE ALPHA'S PROPOSAL
Anna sat quietly in the luxurious bedroom, unable to believe everything that had happened in the last twenty-four hours. The soft bed beneath her felt nothing like the small mattress she had slept on all her life. The room was elegant, decorated with dark wood, silver ornaments, and massive windows overlooking a forest that seemed endless.
Her thoughts kept returning to the man who had saved her.
Richard Brody.
His piercing blue eyes, commanding voice, and mysterious aura sent chills through her. There was something about him that made her heart race, though she couldn't explain why.
A gentle knock sounded on the door.
"Come in," Anna whispered.
A young woman entered carrying a tray of food.
"Good morning, Luna."
Anna frowned. "Luna? I think you've mistaken me for someone else."
The woman smiled. "No, Miss Anna. Alpha Richard has already announced that you are to become his Luna."
Anna nearly dropped the cup she was holding.
"What? He never asked me!"
The woman simply bowed before leaving.
Moments later, the door opened again.
Richard walked in wearing a black shirt that highlighted his muscular build. His confident steps filled the room with authority.
"You've recovered well," he said.
Anna stood immediately.
"I heard what your maid said. She called me your Luna."
Richard looked directly into her eyes.
"Because it's true."
Anna shook her head.
"No, it isn't. You never asked me."
Richard walked closer until only a few steps separated them.
"I'm asking now."
Silence filled the room.
"My wolf recognized you the moment I saw you. You are my destined mate."
Anna stared at him in disbelief.
"Werewolves... mates... I don't even know if I believe any of this."
Richard sighed.
"I know this is difficult. But I can protect you. The people who attacked you were not ordinary criminals. Someone wanted you dead."
Anna's heart skipped a beat.
"Who would want me dead? I'm just an ordinary village girl."
"That's exactly what we're trying to find out."
Before she could ask another question, a loud howl echoed through the mansion.
Another howl answered.
Then another.
Richard's expression darkened instantly.
"The council..."
He rushed to the balcony where dozens of wolves had gathered below.
One of the guards transformed into human form and knelt.
"Alpha! Rogue wolves have crossed our borders."
Richard clenched his fists.
"And there's more," the guard continued.
"They're demanding that you surrender your human mate... or they'll declare war."
Anna's face turned pale.
"What have I gotten myself into?"
Richard looked back at her, his eyes glowing golden.
"No matter what happens..."
"I will never hand you over."
Far away in the shadows of the forest, a hooded figure watched the Alpha's mansion with a sinister smile.
"So... the prophecy has finally begun."
He slowly revealed glowing red eyes.
"Kill the girl... and the Alpha will fall."
