I hypnotized him while he lay on the couch in the living room. He was susceptible, I was pleased to discover, but as for remembering things, I found him more resistant. Rather than the memories I wanted, what surfaced were other memories, painful ones. And that sabotaged the first session almost completely. He did admit he went into Quentin’s bedroom, or at least looked in, and saw Quentin lying asleep. But then things got rather unpleasant. “No!” he said, shaking his head and groaning quietly. “I didn’t! I promise. Dad! No!” I felt a sick feeling in my stomach at this.
