The chain link rattled as I dove straight into the ring and threw my body over Jax the second his knees buckled completely.
"Get away from him," I screamed at Darius, covering Jax's chest with mine. The concrete floor felt cold and sticky with blood under my knees. The crowd noise swelled into something ugly, like it might explode any second.
Darius stood over us, fist still raised for that final punch. "Move, Avery. He lost. The prize is mine now."
