An alarm went off, pulling me out of my sleep. I reached for the the bedside table trying to off the annoying thing but all I felt was the cold surface. I opened my eyes slowly, trying to adjust to the brightness of the room. I blinked a couple of times trying to focus my eyes but it stayed blurred. I sat up looking around for the alarm clock that still kept ringing. My body felt heavy as if I had run a marathon, my mind hazy as if i had a bad hangover. 'Darn that alarm lock' I thought when something dawned on me. I was in bed but it wasn’t mine nor was it my room. The stark white walls with contrasting dark mahogany furniture and blue tapestry were all unfamiliar, 'must be the hotel room I passed out in'. I scooted to the side of the bed and tried to get up but my leg felt like jell-o, I tried to take a step but my legs gave out, I tried once more but as I raised my leg to walk I stumbled and fell down.
I sat there shocked , ' What did I do that made me so weak?' the carpet brushed against my thighs as I moved to cross my legs, I looked down to realized was naked except for the t-shirt that loosely hung on me. The t-shirt was white and I knew it wasn't mine. The t-shirt stuck to my back maybe because I was sweaty I thought, my body felt sticky as if I had not taken a shower in a while. Looking around I finally spotted the alarm clock tossed across the room, I crawled to it and turned it off.
A sudden eerie silence fell over the room as the ringing stopped. I crawled back near the bed and stood up using it as leverage, my head was spinning at this point, I felt exhausted and my muscles ached as I moved. I glanced at the bed, it was a king size with white sheets, everything tossed around the bed. 'Had I been rolling around in my sleep?' I slowly bent down still holding on the bed and picked up a pillow that was tossed on to the floor. Placing it on the bed, I pulled back the comforter to climb back in and sleep off the drowsiness when I see a dark stain on the white sheet. I pulled back the rest of the comforter gasping at the sight i saw. The stain on the bed spread was huge , it was dark red and was in the spot I had been sleeping. It was as if my heart seized and I was drowning when I realized it was blood. The throbbing in my head got worse as what happened the last 3 weeks came flooding in to my head. All I knew was that I had to get out of here as soon as possible.
I went to the armoire and tossed on a shirt and jeans. Pulling on a hoodie I made my way towards the door when I saw my phone on the floor under the bed. I snatched it before slowly opening the door and making my way out to the living area. I was in a penthouse suite, looking around to make sure he isn’t there I made my way towards the door and got out. I raced to the elevator and made my way to the ground floor. There wasn’t many people in the reception area, I put my hood up and walked out the door, I breathed out realizing I had been holding it all this time. Flagging down the first cab I could find I asked the driver to take me to 256 Nolan drive, Riverton. I opened my cell phone crossing my fingers and found that it wasn’t broken. I knew I had to face my parents, I had to tell them what happened so I called my mother. She picked up on the second ring and immediately asked where I was, where I had been the last 3 weeks and if I was okay. Not wanting to answer that in the cab I asked if dad was home. Mum said that dad was home, that he had been trying to find me for the past 3 weeks and that he had called the FBI once the police refused to give my location. I told her not to worry that I was almost home, that I will tell them everything once I get there. The rest of the cab ride home was spent in silence, thinking over and over again how I was going to explain any of it. My hands shivered as I relived flashes of what happened.
The cabbie pulled up in front of my house, I asked him to wait a second and ran to the house and rang the bell. It was answered by my dad who seemed relieved, I asked him if he could pay the cab fare. He didn’t reply just went to the cab and paid him. I waited at the door till he walked back and stood right in front of me. I was unsure of what to do, finally my dad pulled me in to a hug. He must have known something was wrong. He followed me in to the living room where I sat down on the sofa curling my legs up towards me. Dad disappeared in to the house next thing I know both my brothers and mum rushed in. They were asking so many questions all at once that the headache got even worse. Dad walked in and sat across from me asking the others to sit down and be quiet. He informed me that the FBI were on the way. I nodded and told them I will tell them all what happened because I had the strength to tell it only once. I told them not to interrupt me and to leave the questions till later. Mum looked sadly at me, she also knew something was up. She got up, went to the kitchen and returned with a sandwich and mug of milk tea. She placed them in front of me and encouraged me to eat something. I complied and managed to finish off the sandwich. As I was sipping the tea the doorbell rang.
