Chapter 15

3145 Words

“I wanted to.” Tessa set down the bundt cake she’d picked up from the pop-up dessert shop that had come to The Holiday House that day. “I got four of these from Beauty Bundts. This one is white chocolate raspberry.” She beamed at the cake in the middle of the table and then looked at Julia, the dark-haired woman she’d started to feel close to. On her right sat Madelynne Lancaster, who’d been injured that morning on the inn’s yacht. When Tessa had heard about it, she’d immediately selected a cake and said she’d be by that afternoon to check on the two women working on the inn to get it reopen. Maddy had just said Tessa didn’t need to bring the cake, but she did take a slice after Julia plated one and handed it to her. “Janey said she’d bring dinner,” Tessa said, sighing as she sat down.
