Maddy pulled up to The Lighthouse Inn, the last of the daylight fading. Dinner would be late tonight, but she’d texted Julia to say so. She hadn’t been able to get away from her father’s place as early as she’d have liked to, mostly because his neighbors had kept dropping by, asking her questions while she tried to get his yard ready for the winter. She’d fed him quickly, texted Julia, and made the drive back to the Point and The Lighthouse Inn. Julia had turned on the floodlights on the upper balcony, and the rays spilled out over the sand and the parking lot in every direction.
