Chapter 13 The smells of burned wood and sausages filled her nose. But it was a sound in the distance that jerked Kenna awake. She didn’t remember falling asleep. She stayed alert most of the night, quietly talking with Darrin about their route to Richmond. Looking around quickly, Ken tried to assess the situation. “Good morning,” said an overly chipper voice to her right. Her pillow. “Did I seriously fall asleep on you?” Darrin laughed. “Yep. Though you were sort of leaning forward first. I figured you’d prefer my shoulder over falling headfirst into the fire pit.” She blinked groggily. “What?” “Don’t worry. It was only a couple hours.
