Chapter 19
Dakota
He awoke with a start. Though it was still dark out, the SUV had stopped. With eyes blurred by unfinished sleep, Dakota looked around the cabin.
Only two others remained in the vehicle: Terrell, who still sat next to him but was wide awake, and Jaden, who seemed to be in the middle of some sort of paralyzing anxiety attack as she sat with her knees pressed up against her chest in the driver’s seat. Kenna and Darrin were nowhere to be found. He sat up abruptly. “What the f**k?”
Before he could move to search for her, Terrell placed one arm around him to stop his pursuit. “Shh,” he said in the darkness. “We can’t leave right now.”
