Family house

Vivian and Ralpha got into the car. She expected that he was going to be a gentleman and open the door for her but was disappointed when she saw him sliding him immediately. She sighed and entered the car too. Ralph was sitting right beside her, pinging on his tablet. She sighed again, feeling bored. Her mind traveled back to Charles and his mistress. This wasnt how she imagined how perfect her life would be. She loves Charles more than enough to get married to him but it seems all he did was just pretense. What is she talking about? He never acted like he was married to her. Vivian was the only one who tried her best in her marriage. She was a good housewife and loved her husband very much. She remembered how she would wait for him to come home from his work and most times, she would doze off on the couch only for her to meet herself there in the morning. Charles would walk out and go straight to work without a care in the world. For once, she wished he would see her trials and maybe carry her to bed but each time she tries to wait for him and doze off, the couch had been her companion throughout the night. Their marriage was like scanty seeds scattered on the ground that grown around thorns. Charles never spoke to her. No dates, no movie nights, no romance and no intimacy. Now, she realized everything was one sided. All she wanted from her ex - husband, he was busy giving it to someone else and that person is now pregnant for him. Tears burned and threatened to spill but she pushed them back, only to be distracted by Ralph's phone call. "What is it, Kaleb?" Ralph's brows were pinched together and his voice sounded like he was irritated. She couldn't hear what the other person at the end of the call said but it seemed it was something serious because Ralph just threw his phone away to the other side. Vivian didn't want to speak but she became comcerned. "Is anything the problem?" She asked. "None that is of your business." Ralph fired and she shut her mouth immediately. None of what he was doing was her business truly. He was just doing her a favor and the marriage that had just started between them is no different from the one she had with Charles. Only that she will use it to her advantage, to make Charles miserable. She glanced at him again and for the first time after a very long time, she was studying his features. His face was in a deep frown but looked incredibly beautiful. His hair fell to his face and she felt like tucking them away. It's been how many years since they were together? No, they weren't together. It was just a mistake. What happened during college was a mistake. He looked like he has changed too. She couldn't place her hands on it but she did look very different. Vivian's mind traveled back to the kiss they shared in the party hall that had half of the people present gawking at them. Unconsciously, she touched her lips and didn’t realize she was smiling. "Are you thinking about the kiss?" She almost jolted when she heard Ralph say. What does he mean and was it very obvious that she was so engrossed in the thought of them sharing a kiss earlier? Vivian nodded shyly with a smile. It was her first kiss but who would believe her? Charles never placed his lips on hers throughout their marriage. Whenever she tried to make the first move, she gets shoved away or yelled at so she didn’t try again. "I can't believe you are this gullible." Ralph chuckled dryly which wiped the smile off her face. She frowned, thinking about what he meant. How can he say she is gullible just because she was thinking about the kiss? "Snap out it. It was just a facade. It was only to rile your ex - husband and mistress up. Don't flatter yourself dreamily." Ralph said nonchalantly. Vivian was speechless. Yes, she knew it was a facade but she didn't think too much about it. The kiss seemed to good to just be an ordinary facade. What is she thinking? That Ralph would fall in love with her just because she kissed him? It meant the kiss meant nothing to him. How could she have thought they were getting along pretty well because of a facade kiss? Vivian blinked, biting her lips hard. She seemed to have forgotten that her marriage with Ralph was just a contractual one. There can be and there will be nothing between them. He was just using her and she would be using him to get her revenge too. She looked up and saw the driver looking at her through the mirror. Her cheeks burned in annoyance and she forced herself to look away, maintaining her gaze outside the window. She was just as he described - gullible. She should have it at the back of her mind that they were just playing games and the kiss was one of them too. The ride became silent again. Ralph continued with his tablet while Vivian continued with her sight seeing. She felt bored but couldn't do anything. Aren't they going home? His house to be precise. Oh, how she wished she could just have a normal life. Have an apartment, get a job and pretend that Charles doesn't exist to her but that isn't possible, is it? She is going to be living with her new husband now. It was because of Raplh she was able to talk back at Charles earlier. On a regular day, she always feared to get on his bad side. She always didn't want him to be angry at her but with everything she has done and how obedient and meek she was, she still lost. "Turn around. Head to the family house." Vivian's head snapped towards Ralph who just gave an order to his driver.
