The Question

Arjun returned to the university. But this time, he wasn't thinking about his classes. His mind was occupied by the information Vijay had discovered. The hacker had accessed the tournament database before the competition. And he hadn't searched for every player. He had searched for only one. SHADOWFLAME. Arjun walked through the crowded corridor, his expression becoming increasingly serious. Why had the hacker been interested in Ananya before the tournament? Was she the real target? Or was there something else connecting them? He needed answers. But first, he needed to find Ananya. He finally spotted her near the university cafeteria. She was sitting with her friends, talking about something. For a moment, Arjun simply stood there. Ananya looked completely normal. She was laughing. She had no idea that someone had been monitoring her gaming identity. No idea that someone was threatening to expose her. And no idea that the person sitting across from her was secretly trying to protect her. Arjun walked toward them. Ananya noticed him. "You came back?" Arjun nodded. "I had some work." She looked at him suspiciously. "Didn't you say you were leaving?" "I changed my mind." "Why?" Arjun paused. "I had to meet someone." Ananya nodded. Then she looked at him carefully. "You look serious." "I'm fine." "You don't look fine." Arjun glanced at her. "Do I usually look happy?" Ananya thought about it. "Not really." Arjun raised an eyebrow. "Then what's different?" She smiled slightly. "Today you look like you're planning someone's murder." Arjun stared at her. Ananya immediately raised her hands. "I'm joking." "I know." For a moment, neither of them said anything. Then Ananya looked toward the cafeteria. "Are you eating?" "No." "Then sit." Arjun looked at her. "Why?" "Because you're standing there like a suspicious person." "That's not a reason." "It is for me." Before Arjun could argue, she moved her bag from the empty chair. Arjun sat down. He tried to act normal. But his mind continued racing. The hacker had been searching for ShadowFlame before the tournament. He had known about Ananya before Arjun had discovered her identity. That meant the hacker had been watching her for a long time. Ananya opened her phone. "Did you see the latest gaming forum discussions?" Arjun immediately became alert. "What discussions?" "The wedding." Arjun froze. Ananya looked at him. "Why are you reacting like that?" "I'm not." "You just froze." "I didn't." Ananya opened the forum. "The wedding is still trending." She showed him the screen. The comments were filled with discussions about StormKnight and ShadowFlame. StormKnight and ShadowFlame are the most mysterious couple in the game. Nobody knows who they really are. Their wedding was the biggest event in the game. The weapons StormKnight gave ShadowFlame were unbelievable. Arjun glanced at the screen. Then at Ananya. She was reading the comments with a completely serious expression. "People are too dramatic," she said. Arjun almost smiled. "Why?" "Because it's just a game." Arjun looked at her. "Is it?" Ananya turned toward him. "What do you mean?" "Nothing." She continued reading. Then suddenly stopped. Her expression changed. Arjun noticed immediately. "What?" Ananya pointed at the screen. A new comment had appeared. THEY ARE NOT AS UNKNOWN AS EVERYONE THINKS. Below it was another comment. I KNOW WHO THEY ARE. Ananya's expression became serious. Arjun stared at the screen. The comment had been posted only seconds ago. He immediately took out his phone. The hacker's number had not messaged him. But the timing was too perfect. The hacker had been watching. Again. Ananya frowned. "Who would write something like that?" Arjun looked at her. "Maybe someone trying to get attention." "Maybe." But she didn't sound convinced. Arjun looked at the username. It was a newly created account. No history. No previous posts. No information. He immediately memorized it. Then the account disappeared. Ananya stared at the screen. "What happened?" Arjun's eyes narrowed. "The account was deleted." She looked at him. "How?" "I don't know." But he did. Someone had been watching them. And someone had just sent them another warning. Arjun's phone vibrated. This time, it was from Vijay. WE FOUND ANOTHER CONNECTION. Arjun immediately stood up. Ananya looked at him. "Another emergency?" "Something like that." "You're leaving again?" "I'll be back." She frowned. "You keep saying that." Arjun paused. For a moment, he wanted to tell her everything. He wanted to tell her that he knew she was ShadowFlame. That he was StormKnight. That someone had been watching her. That he was trying to protect her. But he couldn't. Not yet. Instead, he said: "I'll see you later." Ananya watched him walk away. Something about Arjun was strange. He was always disappearing. Always receiving mysterious messages. Always acting as though he knew something she didn't. She looked back at her phone. The deleted comment still remained in her mind. I KNOW WHO THEY ARE. For some reason... She felt that the message wasn't meant for everyone. It was meant for her. Arjun entered an empty corridor and called Vijay. "What did you find?" Vijay's voice came through the phone. "The hacker accessed ShadowFlame's player profile before the tournament." "I know that." "There's more." Arjun stopped walking. "What?" "The access wasn't random." "What do you mean?" "The hacker didn't just look at her gaming profile." Vijay paused. "They accessed information that wasn't publicly available." Arjun's expression hardened. "What information?" "Her tournament registration details." Arjun became silent. "That's impossible." "Exactly." "Who had access?" "That's what we're trying to find out." Arjun looked around the empty corridor. Students passed by at a distance. His voice became colder. "Find out." "We're working on it." "Vijay." "Yes?" "I don't want theories." Arjun looked at the time on his phone. 14 HOURS REMAINING. "I want a name." There was silence on the other end. Then Vijay answered: "We'll get you one." Arjun ended the call. He stood alone in the corridor. The hacker had accessed Ananya's private tournament information. They had been watching her before the tournament. And now... They were watching him too. Arjun looked back toward the cafeteria. Ananya was still sitting there. She had no idea how close the hacker was. Arjun slowly clenched his fist. He had fourteen hours left. And he was going to find the truth before the time ran out. Shadow & Storm Episode 16 – Part 2: The First Lead Arjun remained alone in the corridor. Arjun returned to the office. The moment he entered the secured room, Vijay and Ashok were already working. Several screens were open in front of them. Arjun walked toward the desk. "What did you find?" Vijay didn't look away from the screen. "We found the access point." Arjun stopped. "Where?" Ashok turned one of the monitors toward him. A list of records appeared on the screen. "Someone accessed ShadowFlame's tournament registration information two days before the competition." Arjun looked at the details. "Can you identify the account?" "We're trying." Vijay opened another screen. "The person used a temporary account." "Of course." "But they made one mistake." Arjun looked at him. "What mistake?" "They accessed the same system twice." Ashok nodded. "The first time, they only looked at the registration data." "The second time?" "They searched for something else." Arjun frowned. "What?" Ashok turned toward him. "StormKnight." The room became silent. Arjun stared at the screen. The hacker had searched for both of them. Not randomly. Not by accident. They had specifically searched for ShadowFlame. And then StormKnight. Arjun's expression hardened. "When did they search for me?" Vijay checked the records. "After the tournament." Arjun's eyes narrowed. That meant the hacker had discovered something during the tournament. Something that connected him to ShadowFlame. But what? Ashok suddenly leaned closer to his screen. "Wait." Arjun turned toward him. "What?" "There is a second access point." "From the same person?" "We don't know yet." Ashok opened the record. "This one is different." Vijay looked at the information. "This wasn't a direct login." "What was it?" "A remote access." Arjun frowned. "From where?" Ashok began tracing the connection. The screen showed a location. Arjun looked at it. His expression changed. "That's impossible." Vijay looked at him. "What?" Arjun pointed at the screen. "That location is inside the university." The room became silent. Ashok checked the data again. "Are you sure?" "Yes." "Could the location be wrong?" "It could." Vijay quickly began checking the network. "The university has multiple systems." "Maybe the hacker used a public network." Arjun shook his head. "Find the exact connection." Ashok nodded. They began working again. The trace moved through the university network. One system. Then another. Finally, they reached a specific building. Arjun stared at the screen. The hacker had accessed the tournament system from somewhere inside the university. But the building was not the computer lab. It was not the esports club. It was one of the academic buildings. Ashok zoomed in. "We need more time." Arjun looked at the clock. 13 HOURS REMAINING. "We don't have much." Vijay looked at him. "Then we'll work faster." At the university, Ananya had no idea what was happening. She was walking toward her next class when she noticed several students gathered near the notice board. She slowed down. "What happened?" One of the students looked at her. "Someone found another clue about the hacker." Ananya's heart skipped. "What clue?" The student showed her a post on his phone. The hacker may have accessed the tournament system from inside the university. Ananya stared at the screen. Another student said: "If that's true, then the hacker might be a student." "Or a professor." "Or someone working here." "Then ShadowFlame could be from this university." Ananya forced herself to remain calm. "Why are you all so interested in this?" The student looked at her. "Wouldn't you be interested if a famous gamer was secretly studying here?" Ananya shrugged. "Maybe." She walked away. But the moment she turned the corner, her expression changed. The hacker had been inside the university. And the hacker knew she was ShadowFlame. That couldn't be a coincidence. She took out her phone. She opened the game. STORMKNIGHT: ONLINE Ananya hesitated. Then she sent him a message. ShadowFlame: Are you busy? The reply came quickly. StormKnight: A little. She frowned. ShadowFlame: What are you doing? There was a pause. Arjun was staring at the message from inside the office. He couldn't tell her the truth. So he typed: StormKnight: Working. Ananya smiled slightly. ShadowFlame: You always seem busy. Arjun looked at the message. He almost smiled. StormKnight: So do you. ShadowFlame: I'm not. StormKnight: You are. ShadowFlame: Prove it. Arjun looked at the screen. For a few seconds, he forgot about the hacker. Forgot about the countdown. Forgot about the threat. He was simply talking to Ananya. The person sitting in front of him in the real world. And the person he had married in the game. Then Vijay suddenly spoke. "Arjun." Arjun looked up. "What?" "We found the building." The smile disappeared from his face. "Which building?" Vijay turned the screen toward him. "The exact location of the access." Arjun stared at the screen. It was the same academic building where his father taught. The same building where he had attended the elective class with Ananya. His expression slowly changed. The hacker had accessed the university system from there. And Ananya had been in that building. Arjun immediately stood up. "Can you find the exact room?" Ashok nodded. "We're trying." Arjun looked at his phone. Ananya had sent another message. ShadowFlame: Storm? He stared at it. Then he typed: StormKnight: I'm here. But his attention was no longer on the game. His eyes were fixed on the screen in front of him. 13 HOURS REMAINING. The hacker had been inside the same building as Ananya. Maybe even at the same time. Arjun's expression became cold. "Find the room." Vijay and Ashok immediately began working. The trace moved deeper into the building's network. Room by room. System by system. Until finally— The screen stopped. Ashok stared at the result. "Arjun." Arjun turned toward him. "What?" Ashok slowly looked up. "We found the exact room." Arjun stepped closer. "Where?" Ashok turned the monitor toward him. Arjun looked at the room number. His expression changed completely. It was the room where— his father had been teaching the elective class.
