When Selin turned the car onto that narrow, winding coastal road, the sun hung on the horizon like an orange wound. Murat sat in the passenger seat with the window cracked open, drawing in the salty sea air as though breathing it for the very first time. "Do you remember?" asked Selin, her eyes on the road but her heart with Murat. Murat smiled faintly. His image had grown more distinct with the briny smell drifting off the water. "It's not over, Selin. The world stopped for me, but that peace — thanks to you — has lifted me back up, right here in this seat."
