CHAPTER FIVE

It was so unexpected how comfortable Jin and I became with each other while eating. What he said about his "allergy to seriousness" was true; my jaw and stomach hurt from laughing so much. We were having so much fun that we didn't even notice that almost three hours had passed.

He offered to drive me to my condo, and of course, I didn't say no. You have to grab these opportunities!

"Thank you for today," he said with a smile when we arrived at my condo.

"No, thank you for fulfilling my fangirl dream today."

"It's really nice to meet and talk to an ARMY like you."

"And it is truly life-changing to be with a BTS member."

"Okay, you win," he said, shaking his head and leaning back.

"Why? I'm not competing with you," I asked, confused.

"Yes, you are."

"No."

"Yes, you are. You suddenly remind me of Jungkook, who doesn't want to lose."

I looked at him, surprised. I never thought I was like that. I mean, I don't usually back down easily, but it still depends on the situation. On second thought, since they were such a big influence on me, maybe I got about 60% of my personality from them.

"Fine." I shrugged and smiled at him. "I need to go now. I've already taken up so much of your time. Thank you again."

I tentatively raised my hand toward his world-famous shoulder. I took a deep breath before I slowly placed my hand on his shoulder and patted it.

"I really enjoyed this day. Take always care, and I'm always waiting for your new song."

I adjusted my grip on my laptop before opening the door and was about to get out when he suddenly held my arm to stop me.

"Wait," he said. "Can I have your phone number if you don't mind?" he asked in a very sincere voice. "I just want to get in touch with you. I only know a few people here in the Philippines, and it would be great if I could be friends with an ARMY personally, right?"

I stared at him for a long time. It was as if my brain was slowly processing what he said. I blinked a few times, just in case I had heard or understood him wrong.

"You want my phone number?" I repeated.

"Yes, your phone number."

Excitedly, I sat up straight again and quickly opened my bag to get my cardholder, which held my special business card. It was personalized with their last group photo as the background.

"Here! It's a limited edition," I said excitedly, handing it to him.

"Wow," he whispered, surprised, as he looked at the card.

"That's special, so please take good care of it and don't give my number to anyone, okay?" I joked. "Goodbye," I said again before finally getting out of his car.

He rolled down the passenger window and waved at me with a smile, and that smile made my heart flip. I waved back at him before walking into the condo.

I was full of energy as I went up to our unit, and since I was in such a good mood, after showering and changing, I sat down at the dining table to work.

Wow! The stress of the whole year was gone after just a few hours of being with him. I still felt like I was on cloud nine. Even now, everything that happened still felt surreal.

"Break!" I slightly shouted as I stretched my arms and waist.

I was almost done with all the paperwork I had to do today. I wasn't a hero, nor was I the heiress to the company, so I wasn't going to overwork myself. I leaned back in my chair and opened my phone to check my i********: stories. The first thing I saw was Jin's update. I excitedly looked at his story and almost fell out of my chair when I saw what he posted.

I quickly covered my mouth with both hands and let out a little squeal. I wanted to roll around on the floor from the excitement! I immediately screenshotted Jin's i********: story and sent it to George, even though I knew she would see it eventually.

I took a picture showing my big smile, added a caption, and posted it, filled with excitement. Just a few seconds after I posted my story, George called me.

"Hey! What's going on?!"

"OMG, George! I think the Lord loves me so much!"

"Spill the tea!"

I excitedly told her everything that had happened, from Jin picking me up at the office to him dropping me off at the condo. My hands were red from hitting the table out of pure excitement.

"Prayer reveal, sis! I'm also a child of God, but why does it feel like there's favoritism?"

"I still can't believe I survived today and spent time with him in the same place without fainting."

"Don't take a shower! I'll wipe you down with a handkerchief, just in case the Lord blesses me, too, and I'll get a miracle like yours. Maybe Yoongi will suddenly appear in front of me."

"You i***t! What do you think I am, a deity?"

"What did you eat to be so lucky?"

"I've been munching on 3-in-1 coffee."

"i***t! But come to think of it, how big is the chance that all of that would happen, right?"

"True. I'm also wondering what happened to him to suddenly be there."

"Maybe you were really destined to meet that night."

"Totally! I guess it was really destiny."

"I might just walk on the same street you did. Maybe there's a portal there, and I can enter your lucky world, too."

"Oh! We have already gone to the police station, so the creepy guys probably won't be going back there."

"That's unfortunate."

"You're a mess. When you get home, buy some pizza, okay?"

"Is that a request or a command?"

"i***t! I'm just craving it."

"Just kidding. Okay, fine, I'll buy some. What are you doing now?"

"I'm finishing my reports, so my boss won't have anything to complain about."

"Ay, our manager is so hardworking."

"I'm just in a good mood."

"Yeah, right. Everyone would be in a good mood if they spent the whole day with Kim Seok Jin. See you later, sis!"

"Bye. Be careful on your way home."

After she hung up, I stood up to get some snacks and drinks before getting back to work. Once I had a little rest, I finished the rest of my work.

When I was done, George arrived just in time, and I excitedly greeted her when I saw the pizza in her hands.

A few days have passed since I saw Jin. I kept looking at my phone, waiting for him to call me because he had asked for my number, but nothing. I also didn't know if he was still in the Philippines because he hadn't updated his i********:. To keep myself from getting sad, I just focused on my work.

"I want ice cream," I mumbled with a pout after sending the reports to Sir Raven.

I quickly ran to the fridge to see if we had ice cream, and my world almost ended when I didn't see any. I needed to go grocery shopping. I suddenly walked back to my laptop and posted an i********: story.

Since there was no ice cream to eat, I went back to work because I didn't want Sir Raven's nose to start steaming if I didn't finish all my workload today.

"What's happening?" I asked, confused, as my phone filled with notifications.

I picked it up and checked to see why my i********: was blowing up. My eyes widened when I saw Jin's name on the screen.

Jin: What flavor do you want?

Jin: Is Rocky Road okay with you? I stalked your i********: account, and that's the only ice cream I saw you post multiple times.

Jin: I'm already done changing my clothes. I'm on my way to the supermarket.

I quickly checked if this was his real account and almost dropped my phone when I confirmed it. But how did he know my i********: account?

Jin: Don't seenzone me, ARMY.

I panicked and didn't know what to say. I quickly typed something and deleted it a few times because I didn't want to look desperate or have him think I was too head over heels for him.

My phone suddenly rang, and I shrieked in surprise.

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" I stood up and started pacing, staring at his face on my screen.

I took a few deep breaths to calm myself and my heart, which was going crazy from excitement, before I answered the call.

"Hello."

[What took you so long to answer my call? Are you busy?]

"Not really. I just didn't expect your call."

[I'm already on my way to my car. What else do you want besides ice cream?]

"Huh? Are you coming over?"

[Yes, if you're not busy. I'm bored in my hotel room.]

"I'm working."

[That's fine. I won't bother you. I promise.]

"I'm sure I won't be able to concentrate with you here, but that's fine."

[I won't accept no for an answer, anyway. So, what else do you want?]

"Fries."

[Anything else?]

"That's all."

[Okay, I'll call you later once I'm there.]

"Please be careful."

[I will, ARMY. Bye! See you later.]

After he hung up, I briefly looked at the screen, which still showed his face since he was my wallpaper. I couldn't believe he was coming here to our condo! I quickly looked around the unit and frantically grabbed a broom to clean. Even though our unit was clean, it didn't feel like it, and it was embarrassing to have Jin see it like that. After that, I quickly fixed myself because I didn't want him to see me looking like a mess.

While I waited for Jin to update me on his location, I finished the rest of my work, so I would be done when he arrived.

When my phone chimed, I grabbed it faster than the Flash and read Jin's message.

Jin: Sorry, you have to wait for me a little longer. Something happened here at the supermarket. I can't go out yet, but I already have your fries and ice cream. I'm just hoping the ice cream doesn't melt.

My heart suddenly thumped after I read his message. What could have happened to him at the supermarket? I quickly called him on i********:, and he answered just as fast.

[Hi, ARMY.]

He greeted me with a smile and a wave. He looked fine, so what happened to him? He was wearing a bucket hat and a face mask, and I could barely see his face. I could also hear some noise in the background, like a commotion.

"What's happening?"

[They recognized me. I don't know how, but yeah.]

"What?! Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

[No, I'm not hurt. The security immediately came in and controlled the crowd.]

"Oh my God, Seok Jin."

[I'm fine, don't worry. I'll be there once the security clears the way.

I facepalmed and shook my head. How could I not worry? After all my years as an ARMY, I knew how people would swarm them wherever they went.

"It's okay. Take your time, as long as you arrive here safe and sound."

[Of course! Just wait for me, okay?]

"I waited for almost two years when you entered the military service. I waited for three years until you guys completed your military service, and I have waited for four years since you guys decided to disband. So, a couple of hours is nothing for me."

I heard his loud laughter, which made me smile, too.

[ARMY, I'll be there soon, and I'll call you again, okay?]

He waved at me before ending the call. I just shook my head, still smiling, because I couldn't believe we were talking like we were just friends, not a famous idol and a fan.

They are so humble. From then until now, I still don't think it has sunk in to them that there isn't a person on this earth who doesn't know them and that they have the biggest fanbase of all time. I still don't regret that I fell in love with them because, aside from saving me a million times, they also made me a better person today.
