Chapter 6- Fated

714 Words
Celeste’s pulse still raced as she followed Theo across the dance floor. His hand rested firmly on her back, guiding her through the rhythm of the waltz, his presence a steadying weight, but every beat of her heart pulled her thoughts elsewhere. Somewhere across the room, near the doorway, he was there, Blaine. She didn’t need to move toward him. She could feel him, an invisible thread vibrating between them, impossible to ignore. Every glance, every fraction of a second their eyes met, sent a shiver down her spine. Her chest tightened, her breaths quickened, and her skin tingled with a heat she could not name. Theo’s hand pressed just a little tighter against her back as they spun, and she felt the possessiveness in his touch. Not a word was spoken, but the grip said more than any command ever could: Stay here. No one else touches you. Her stomach fluttered, a mix of guilt and something darker, something she couldn’t yet name. Across the hall, Blaine’s gaze found hers again. His dark chestnut hair brushed the edge of his collar as he leaned casually against the wall, but his hazel eyes were sharp, fixed, pulling at her in ways that made her pulse throb. She felt the heat of him even from this distance, the fated connection humming beneath her skin, vibrating with inevitability. Theo’s jaw tightened subtly, and she sensed the tension radiating from him. He was aware of the silent communication across the room, of the way her gaze lingered ever so slightly toward Blaine. His hand shifted on her waist, a possessive claim, a warning, a subtle reminder of what, and who, was his. Her parents and siblings moved around the room, laughing and dancing, but Celeste barely noticed them. Every glance at Blaine across the hall made her chest ache, her breath catch, her heart hammer. And Theo noticed, too. She felt it in the way his fingers flexed lightly against her gown, in the tightness in his jaw, in the subtle glare he sent when her eyes strayed for a heartbeat too long. The thread between her and Blaine pulsed stronger with each beat of the music. She could feel the faint brush of his scent in the air, rich and earthy, pulling at her senses in a way that made her knees weak. Every time their eyes met, the world contracted, the ballroom fading into background noise as the undeniable recognition of fated mates burned between them. Theo’s arm tightened around her waist. The possessiveness was not loud or dramatic, but it was sharp, palpable, like a tether. He whispered her name softly, low enough for only her to hear, and it was not sweet, it was a reminder, a warning. His gaze scanned the room, protective and sharp, clearly aware of Blaine’s pull on her, even if he could not yet name it. Her heart felt as if it were caught in a tug of war. Duty, loyalty, and Theo’s possession battled against the thread that bound her to Blaine. She wanted to look away, to bury herself in Theo’s presence, but the pull across the room was magnetic, a low hum that made her chest ache with want. Every turn of the dance, every brush of Theo’s hand, every glance toward Blaine was a test of restraint. Theo’s subtle possessiveness grew more pronounced with each fleeting glance Celeste stole. He didn’t need to speak, his touch, his proximity, the way his gaze lingered on her like a tether, made it clear that she was his to hold. Across the hall, Blaine’s eyes were unwavering. The silent communication between them was raw and intimate. No words were needed. Celeste could feel his pull, the quiet, undeniable acknowledgment that they were fated. And though she remained by Theo’s side, she could not deny the heat that coursed through her at the sight of him. The music swirled around them, a current carrying laughter, conversation, and footsteps but to Celeste, the world had narrowed. Theo’s protective presence pressed into her, grounding yet stifling, while Blaine’s distant pull stirred something wild and irresistible in her veins. And somewhere across the hall, Blaine’s gaze lingered, intense and unwavering. The wordless truth between them echoed in both their hearts: Fated.
